(IBG) PZL 42 - Polish Light Bomber - 1:72

Looking great.A real different looking aircraft.Think the Poles and French fielded some off the wall planes in ww2.

Todays update:
Touched up and tidied up few bits of paintwork...

Masked up with tape and painted the prop cowl, a sort of dark rust colour, also painted two side exhausts.
Also painted white sections to the rear tail fins.
Glued canopy onto fuselage.

Prop installed.
Now just need to let paint dry, remove masking tape from prop cowl, then think about a varnish coat before applying decals.
Bit worried about the decals, as the cockpit instrument decals and the canopy instrument panel decals both started to split and crumble during applying! So will need to be very careful with the external decals on the wings, etc.

If the decals are breaking up try coating the sheet in a thin layer of humbrol clear.....and when you cut them out trim as close as you can.....should hold them together long enough to get them on

Not sure....ive done it before with humbrol acylic varnish rattle can

I said Humbrol clear cos i always put a coat on where the decals going so it slides and sits better with the microsol......then i give a coat over the top when its dry.......then the decal wont silver when the final coat of varnish goes on

its an old habit.......in the old days everyone used kleer floor varnish before it was changed.....humbrol clear is alledgedly the same stuff......hobbycraft sells it

Nuther update.
Fully built and painted.
Stupidly used a bit of CA glue on the canopy and its fogged up a bit, [sigh.......]
Glossed, then put decals on. They went on ok, but looked like they would break up at any moment!
Put some micro sol on and they seem to have set ok.
Put a wash on. Still a bit wet.
Last thing to do will be a matt varnish coat to knock it back a bit.

According to the blurb on the box only about 40+ of them were ever made! so a pretty rare plane.... 8-)

Final post on this one (and pics).
Not the tidiest of finishes TBH, I rushed it a little bit, and not happy with the weathering, the panel line wash did not really show up the lines and my attempt at making the exhaust dirt/oil "plume" along the fuselage and wing was a tad overdone, but.....
This was my first plane since I was about 12, so I used it as a "learning" experience, and I have deffo learned a few things.
So hopefully my next plane will be better. I have a couple more, cheap, auction buys that were planes and will practice on those ones, before I attempt my very nice Mosquito and/or Heinkel ju88 builds.
Final pics for this one after the final matt varnish coat.

Nicely done. You're rattling through these builds. You've enjoyed it, learned a lot and got a result you're nopleased with. Perfect.

Your first aircraft model since you were 12, well you should be really happy with that. You've tried many technique's all in one build. Great stuff.

What an interesting looking aircraft.....i like that....well done

Quick tip on using ca on clear bits.......its not the glue that causes the fogging but the fumes.....so add just tiny amounts of glue then leave for a minute or 2 to let the fumes dissapate then stick the bits together...theres also a good trick with humbrol clear if you want to know some time

theres also a good trick with humbrol clear if you want to know some time

humbrol clear is an acrylic varnish.......its alledgedlly the same stuff as the old formula Johnson Kleer floor polish which we all used for loads of things back in the day

If you dip or brush it on clear parts like canopies or windscreens it makes them mega see through but there are catches to it if your not careful

It also makes a sort of barrier so ca fumes wont cause fogging

Great product for decals too
