Ironclad IJN NACHI 1943

HI BOYO gun turrets lookin good ar you goin to drill out the gun barrels for that extra bit of realism ?
chrisb

Labelled the sprues. All the deck vents etc are separate and small. Makes painting easier but will have to be careful that I lock up the carpet monster. Can see some pinging off!!

Something tells me with all the rice and tofu consumed, the number of air vents help to prevent internal implosion.:tears-of-joy:

Cheers,
Wabble

Should have gone to spec savers Chris. I can see them in the first photo.

In between getting mums house ready for sale and de cluttering ours, found a bit more time at the bench

Main turrets finished, built the 4 torpedo tube launchers and started on the bridge

Coming on a treat Bob. It may be just a trick of the camera but the turret on the right centre in the first photo looks to have gun barrels of different lengths :rolling:

YES Jim the chappie is doin well isnt he an i think the reson the gun barrels look differnt lenghts is due to one gun barrel is pointin downwards so the barrel looks longer well done my freind keep the pics comin Bob mate an them guns look very detailed for their size

The turret detail is very good and adding the covers over the range finders on two of the turrets was fiddly with cleaning up fun. So did the cleaning over a plastic box which did a good job of stopping them from escaping!

Looking again Chris, I think that's right. Sorry Bob - your barrels do match :smiling3:
Phew got me worried lol
Looking good Bob.
Thanks Ian

You may have noticed the seams on the curve of the bridge. Now I was planning to just do a no messing about build but that seam sure stands out, so might scrape seam and try filler

Any opinions or suggestions

Bob

Must admit i can't see them. Are they so bad?

Oh! That one. I thought it was a panel detail LOL.
Yep. you might want to fil that. Sorry for not seeing that for what it was. I really thought that something else, a conduit or a vent of some kind would be placed there.

Could not build a ship to save my life, got two in the stash and they will be there 'till my bones turn to dust...
BUT, I do love to watch you guys turn plastic into masterpieces, and this will be another.

Not a problem Ian, sadly nothing covers it, bugger! Have made a small Starr

Made a start on that seam, was originally going to leave but it's a bit obvious and nothing covers it! So going to do it small stages, starting at the bottom on starboard

So using tape to protect the hand rail

Left to dry and made a start on the hull and decks, dry fitted and the fit looks OK. Surprised how big it's about 28cm! Going to be fiddly to assemble.

The box is to keep it all together lol
Mind you it looks impressive

Built the hull today and first fit issues. The hull is in two parts and has 7 internal bracing pieces, i fitted them nice and tight otherwise the decks would have large gaps around the edge! After fitting them I noticed that lower hull is not the best fit, so might need a bit of filler. On the plus side the decks fit well. Also drilled the hull to fit the kit supplied plastic pedestals, wish all kits came with these!

Seriously thinking of painting the decks before fitting. The middle section really has to be painted first, it contains the torpedo tubes but has another deck on top
