Cue spooky X files music -
I was having a look at my photos from the Cosford air show the other day and found something very strange. I know its six months since the show but the laptop has been playing up and I only recently got round to viewing them on the big screen as opposed to thumbnails on the camera. Anyways most of the pics were rubbish , out of focus and too far away ( its only a basic digital camera so no surprise really ) But one pic caught my attention . Its one of the few in focus and reasonably close pictures , of the French air force Rafale doing a slow high alpha pass . The weird thing is that theres something in the frame at the top that looks like an ovoid metallic object .It doesnt look like its something in the far distance and it cant be another aircraft locally as nothing would be allowed in the air while a fast jet was doing a solo display , covering a lot of the sky . Its definitely not a bird either. Ive looked at my other pics taken during the Rafales display and theres nothing else there in those , I also looked at a video of the display someone had put on youtube and couldnt see anything on there either. So maybe whatever it was was going quite fast and I just got lucky and snapped as it was going past ? Have a look and see what you think.EF223640-3AD0-482E-B46E-8E4F9C885894.jpeg

Yes,I know,a LOT of people dislike the guy... But you know what?!!...
He's actually got a great sense of humour, and the programmes are very interesting ;)

Dust on the lens or sensor? The light modelling doesn’t seem right compared to the aircraft.

Dont think so tim , its not on any of the other pics , several taken just before this , dont know what light modelling is but if you mean the shadow and direction of the light then they both look to be lit from above , not sure where the sun was though .

I like him myself. He has a sense of fun missing in most SciFi programs. It’s why I prefer the Star Trek franchise over the Star Wars one……

I remember him years ago disguised as a New York hotdog vendor (in New York obviously) on the god awful Saturday night program run by Noel Edmonds. Can’t remember why, probably a quiz or something, but he was set up with a cart etc on the kerbside. Somebody didn’t recognise him, stopped his truck, and ordered one, so he just carried on and sold it to him.

The “blob” looks to be lit from above left, and the plane from directly above. Does look to be in the plane of the aircraft (sorry, don’t know how else to phrase it) but that could be an illusion. It could be any number of things (Airborne dust for example). If there was really anything there I think it would have been shouted about by now, especially at an airshow with everyone looking up…..

Maybe someone next to you sneezed and you caught a perfectly timed snot rocket. :tears-of-joy:

Thats what I thought at first Tim , but no ones looking in the background , theyre all looking at the aircraft ? I reckon it might have been that the cheapskate aliens didnt want to pay for a ticket so just said “ lets take the saucer and go and watch it for free from above “ !

Sorry to hear about your experiences there Chris,
... and,as I said i actually like the guy's sense of humour. :)
I have heard about his " Prima Donna" spats, but from what I've seen recently, he's over that?!..
Depends what/Who you listen to....

Can anyone identify this flying object.
Just above centre.
