Hi all it has been finished finally here is my Christmas present, it is the Italeri 1:35 scale ELCO pt boat this has taken until 5 weeks to build and paint straight from the box which includes aluminium gun barrels, photoetch section and the added extras of the crew. This was painted using Humbrol enamals, tamiya acrylics, oils and pastels, i hope you enjoy it and as usual all comments are most welcome.

Scott

That is amazing Scott. Not only a superbly build and painted model but so well photographed to. Your shots bring out the simple power of this boat as well as the pure firepower. The whole thing just looks so right, spot on.

Two MY GOD's in two minutes! This one and the one on the other thread. I'm crying at the idea i have to practice for another 20 years to get to that level!

Absolutely perfect!

brilliant work again scott, well done. how about putting this in a diorama with the schnellboot, it wouldnt take up too much room, you could probably get them on a 6ft square base!!!??

Well tony i was waiting until italeri released the vosper mtb in the same scale then i was thinking about putting them all together lol.

That's top-notch stuff Scott! The word 'excellent' is often bandied about too much but this definitely qualifies! The crew look great if perhaps a tad surprised (!) but I really like the overall effect. And how did you do the torps? They look very good. This is what Christmas is all about you lucky dog!

I thank my lovely wife for the present, as for the torps they were painted gold then i mixed up a few shades of rust coloured pastels in a little thinner then painted it on, then carefully with a soft cloth wiped off the excess.

have you ever considered making the boat radio controlled and really get some fun out of it?

Thread owner
Ive just ordered my own PT boat and am seriously considering installing 3 electric motors and radio gear, think it will sail really great. I just need to find out what size motors, propshafts, propellors and rudders i will need to keep scale, but get realistic performance.

Thread owner
Hi gregory i must admit i didn't as iam no good with electrics of any kind, must admit it would sail well i think.

Superb Scott, it's looking great, must be a monster in that scale! What are the 6 upright things under the water outlets on the stern?

Hi Stuart thanks for viewing and for the nice comments i think you are reffering to the are the exahust mufflers, and the scale is 1/35 it is about 60 cm long.

I just Primed the hull on mine :-( Can we say sags, curtains and pooling! Looks like I'm in for a few hours rubbing down tomorrow!

Would just liek to say that I look at your photos quite a lot during the painting process.

I find it amussing that a kit that big and so big on detail has a painting profile the size of a post card!!!

Gregg: If you want to Radio yours, a few suggestions.

Props Raboesch type D have the best shape for scale but the smallest is Ø30mm which is a bit over scale there type A is a good altermative and looks OK you can get those right down to Ø20

If you want to run all three props remember to get left and right turning props on the outter props and what ever you like on the center one. Action electonics do a controller that wil run three motors but only uses the left and right motor for tooling around and fires up in the center one when you give it full stick.

I would suggest to aid the stearing you oversize the rudders abit.

A motor that gives around 14000 rpm at 8v shold do the trick.

No Im Not RCing mine before you ask. Just know a few that have.

Ian M (sorry for stealing your thread Ron)
