Great news for you Andrew.

We have 3 Waitrose Stores here in Jersey & they are very impressive.

Hope you get some fish coming your way. They always look fresh here. Unlike that other nameless store, Sainsbury whose fish is awful all dried up.

Hope all goes well. You have hooked a good one.

Well done Andrew, Waitrose are a very good company to work for. I have family who work for them and also in the past they have worked for their sister company John Lewis. 2 of my favourite stores - apart from my local Hannants :)

Atb, Colin.
This store is the first joint venture between John Lewis and waitrose - both stores seperate but under the same roof. I had the interview weeks ago, then recieved an email a couple of weeks ago saying I was on hold. Then today they rung me and said can you start training monday!!!! The store opens november 8th, but at the moment the area looks a mess, with only one roadway in sorted!!!!

Cheers, Andrew

Weeell, thanks guys for all your comments, but I went today to sign my contract only to be told the job offer was being withdrawn because I bite my fingernails. I don't do it badly, right down to the quick, like some people, but according to their health and safety laws I cant have the job. They didn't even ask this till after the job was offered to me, so what a waste of time and total downer

Cheers, Andrew

That is a sad state of affairs Andrew after getting to that stage.

Think it is worth talking to your Doc. Andrew to get him to help. I suspect that this may be a down factor in any job applied for where you need every plus factor available to you.

Hope something else comes along soon for you. The plus factor is that you got accepted for the job & it was only one factor which was a problem so there is great hope there.

WOW, that sucks big time Andrew, so sorry to hear that, I guess these days employers can do pretty much what they want and pick and choose just who they want as they know jobs are in short supply...

Fingers crossed that something will soon turn up for you...

Like I said, I don't really bite em that bad, I was just being honest. When they start getting long I bite the tops off, I never bite em down to the quick, or make em bleed. If I'd lied they wouldn't have known any difference. What difference does it make when health and safety laws say you have to wear gloves anyway, that should be changed between raw and cooked meats, each customer ect

Cheers, Andrew

Sorry to hear that andrew, you must be really fed up. Look on the up side though , they say everything happens for a reason so hopefully another one will be just around the corner, keeping my fingers crossed matey , cheers tony

Congrats on the new job mate, hope all goes well on the meat and fish counter.

Tony.

Oh Bum, just read your last post, so sorry mate

If I were you'd I'd go along to Citizens Advice to see if that is a legal excuse for withdrawing the job offer. Lets face it - if you are handling food you will be wearing gloves!

Always good news to hear someone doing well, I am on the other end of the spectrum - 137 days to go and I retire after 30 years service, I will only just be 50 years old then but looking forwards to it a lot - no shift work or stupid leave / holiday policies - I can do what I want when I want. I will also be quite well off financially, so even better. Looking forwards to having more time for my hobbies :D

Great news Andrew. Nothing better than that your time is occupied as there is nothing worse than kicking your heels.

Downside not so much time for model making. But I bet your enthusiasm from your good news & activity will make model making so much more pleasurable.

It does seem at last that things are getting better. My son Pete went to London 4 weeks ago & has picked up 6 weeks of contract work as a Film Editor. Not an easy number many have gone to the wall in the last few years.

Best wishes Andrew & I hope all goes well for you.
