Joe's Academy 1/72 F-16C Thunderbirds

Looking very white Joe ! As you say , white along with yellow is a bugger to do on a large area , modern paints just dont seem to cover as well as the old ones , I never remember yellow or white being see through when I was slapping it on with the brush on bare plastic as a kid ! Probably because they had to make everything ‘safer’ in case some numpty drank it or something - bring back the old toxic stuff I say!
You were probably less critical when you were a kid though Tony.

I suspect I used to lather a thick coat of white on, so never noticed - that and being less critical of course. It should stand out when the decals go on.

Cheers Tony. I'm using Mr Color lacquers, the coverage was acceptable. I just ran out of paint and probably didn't cover the second or third pass completely. Shadows don't help, it looked completely covered under the spray booth lights. To be fair, when we were all young we used large paint brushes and slapped the enamel on real thick. Just thinking about it, I can smell that original Humbrol scent  A shame Humbrol is so hit and miss now days, you either get water or porridge in the tins.

Looking very good indeed Joe.
Thanks Ian, glad the white is done.

Yes, the decals will add contrast for sure.
HI Tony yes you are right on that but who in this world would want to drink the stuff ?

I have been busy applying the huge number of decals. The Cartograf quality is excellent, with hardly any carrier film on the edges.

However I had difficulty with the fit of many of the complex ones. They did provide extra red and blue decal sections for touch ups, but I think I am going to need to paint match, cut some of the decals off, and paint in. Like that section around the nose cone.

It looks a bit :poop: at the moment, but I'm reasonably confident I can rectify it with patience and time.

I am going to leave it for a while as I will be busy until mid next week.
