Hi all

So firstly thanks again for all the birthday wishes for Junior two weeks ago, they were gratefully received.

Having seen Brian's Lego kit he posted, I thought I had better post the shots of Junior's birthday kit as I planned to do last weekend.

So by far the most complicated Lego Technic kit I have personally seen. Plenty of mechanical things happening, working steering, a rudimentary engine block plus pneumatics....oh and only 2017 parts!! We estimate the build time over his birthday weekend was around 8 hours!

All in all a very enjoyable build and it actually came at a good time for him as he's just finished two weeks work experience at the UK HQ for a global engineering company which specialise in a range of things but primarily pneumatics.

Blimey that's some kit!!
... when I was a lad,and building Lego stuff,the biggest decision was whether to use an eight stud rectangular block or a four stud square one!!!

Ok....next set of shots.

Lego helpfully put the parts in numbered bags for each main stage of the build process and slightly reduces some of the sorting you have to do.....





And Junior is off on stage 1





Stage 1 finished.....this is the read end....rear chassis plus the main set of mechanics - axles, gearings, linkages etc that control the main working parts.













End of stage two.....the majority of the pneumatics is now fitted plus the two lift at the end is now fitted and working.


















Onto stage three.....just a few pots of bits....this is mainly about the front end....steering, engine and cab.









The final stage.....this is all about the crane!

And the finished article!

All in all a great build, even if it does use stickers and not decals! The crane has successfully lifted 200g without any hint of a struggle!!

Incredible stuff. It looks, to an old timer like me, a little like Lego and Meccano have joined forces….far more engineering oriented than the Lego of old. Looks like he had great fun with it.

I definitely have to give Junior 2 thumbs up!!! Great fun and he did a wonderful job. Have you two ever been to a Legoland Park? Leave your wallet home if you do go to one...

The only problem with big Lego builds, he says looking at my 1.2 meter long Executor super star destroyer on top of a display cabinet, is where to put the things afterwards
But then that's another reason to downsize...

Buuut, you can play with them, sorry, evaluatr their engineering qualities, without the worry of breaking bits off!

That's a fantastic result! Tip 'O the Hat to young Junior........I understand Leggo makes a Star Wars Imperial Battle Cruiser with something like 12 Million parts and a price tag to match, would that be next on the list?
