Hi guys,

Not sure if this has been covered here already (if so please tell me and I'll remove)

I had a Xmas wishlist and one of those was the Italeri 1/48 tropical MK1 Hurricane.

Nice little kit until it came to fitting the underwing to the fuselage, the fit is dreadful!!
Basically the front overlaps the nose of the aircraft so it won't fit at all.
A quick peruse of the internet and it clearly seems an issue that Italeri have kept a tad quiet.
I've emailed them so it'll be interesting to see the response.

As this was a Xmas present I'm not seeking a refund and I've cut and shaped the wing so that it fits (not brilliant, but enough to not be spotted by the untrained eye!!!!)

The purpose of this post is just a heads up, Italeri have been reported to send out another wing sometimes the correct one, mostly the same misfitting one!!

The pictures are not mine but show the misfit.....the kit is obviously still out there in outlets so be careful!

Regards,

Del

This is interesting. I built the early Mark hurricane from italeri several years ago and found it went together pretty well. The only issue I had was with the fuselage join in front of the cockpit. I would think this version was based on that one, so I wonder what they changed?

Hi Del, I've not built this particular kit but have you fitted the air scoop under the nose for the tropical version. Perhaps the extra lip that extends from the underwing may have a purpose.

Cheers,
Richard

Richard,
That was my original thought process, but this is a flaw, it's quite well reported on the internet, the air scoop sticks out like a banana in its present state and nothing lines up, when I cut back the wing it all happily fell into place!

Oh dear what a screw up for Italeri. They must have forgotten to erase that portion in the blue print before executing the master tooling.

Cheers,
Richard
