I have been out of the R.C. World for a long time....but this year, is time to return. The reason, my reason lol, the Land Rover Defender by Traxxas. It’s a 1/10 crawler built over the “Landy’s” long chassis. A real beauty!!
I post a link with a video, because you will love to see it running . Looks so real!!

The RTR kit comes with a painted body. They look fine, but you can buy a separate clear body that you can decorate at your taste...

Simple! On this thread I will post my own paintwork!:cool::cool:
Let’s do it :tongue-out3:

Are you painting the inside surface , thereby scratches only scratch clear plastic or ????
Well...by the moment I haven’t been painting any thing....all the colour you see are simple paper sheets.
It’s always habitual to paint the inside surface on clear bodies. Once painted, you must retire the plastic film that is protecting now the outside surface.

Good video

That will be fun painting :surprised:

With the paint on the inside I suppose you have to paint the layers backwards - start with the logos, markings and details then body colour last

That’s correct Simon, you have to paint it in reverse :thumb2:

Thanks for watching :smirk:

It is now , when I did my first clear body ( Tamiya Hornet) there were no Tamiya paints for the polycarbonate shells . and so I painted inside with Acrylic for main body colour , and then the outside got enamels for the decoration.
The bodies flexed a lot more then ( i think due to thinner panels ) and paint came away , need to find my body and sort it.
And this time seal it in with a clear varnish coat

You need to buy the PS colours by Tamiya or other specific brands for that use.

I would have done a copy of your real one. Very nice indeed by the way and only a tiny bit envious,
Have fun painting the shell. Backwards and on the inside. Should be fun.

Yep!! I don’t started the paintwork yet...but I’m still looking for different stuff that I need for this project.

Spray cans, the PS colours by Tamiya.
The grey one...thought is so dark, so I will look for another tone.

Masking tape for the lines of doors....

A first accessory.....:tongue-out3:
A high lift. The kit comes with one...but look better this one. Anyway I will repaint it sure....

The last item...the “police” light bar. I know!!! Is a police one!!!
I didn’t find it in blue (only)....and I don’t want to buy it via internet....
Is ready to be assembled, you just need to drill the holes on the body and connect it. Has a button to changes the lights rotation as well.
I’m thinking the possibility to scratch build my one one and use the circuit.

Ok!! I’ve been starting the paintwork.
Principally masking and recreate the designed rescue model that “I invented” lol
The first job is stick the windows mask. There is a mistake on the rear one (lateral/both). Is quite large, so you need to adjust using a sharp.
The second step is use a 1mm masking tape to recreate the door lines and the rubber on the windows.
Now I’m preparing to draw and painting the cubes and the roof.
