Thanks Rob, yes it's really nice in the back garden , taken a good few years to get it how we wanted , but so worth it now .

Achieved quite a bit although slow when doing these wooden parts as need drying time for the glue.
The first one I drew out to scale and over laid it with plastic sheet for the glass . Although a better way to hold the complete frame together as there are many glue lines, the problems come when it dries .
First is the removal of surplus glue, now although it's clear you can still see it . Ay least a water soaked q tip works . Second is the painting, that's going to be fiddly.

So when I started the other shop front I decided to glue only the frame, very small glue points , but using the Deluxe glue which has a fast action it seems to be ok . I always glue up on s flat gloss tile. This way the timber is easy to remove by sliding a very thin putty knife under one side and sliding it up the frame . Of course now I'll be able to paint the timber front and then glue the plastic film on the back as glass . Here I use Deluxe canopy glue , perfect for this application.

Very messy with the film pre fixed .

Now the " new method with out the film .
IMG_20220621_204436776.jpg
Cutting the frame sections to length.

Get the first right angle right and then it's a lot easier .

This is as far as I have got . Tomorrow in-between continuing with this I hope to start the windows.
Thanks for looking in comments always welcome.
thank you.

Sitting out side again, rather breezy as had to retrieve some plastic strip several times.
Managed to complete the first stage of the windows and shutter frames for the right hand side.
Only one photo , of the shop front.

Great stuff. Miniature chippying at its best!
And a lot easier at this scale Tim :smiling3::smiling3:

Hi John
All looking good. A lot of work and planning but worth it.
Jim
Thanks Jim, your right I've spent several hrs searching for photos of French 1950's shop fronts , pavements, people , cars , you name it I've looked :smiling3:, but it's been good fun .

Hiya JR........nice bit of building there buddy. Looks like the front door is plenty wide for "Patissari Patty" to get through. What with all the sweet breads, cakes and pies etc. she's pushing :tongue-out3: Should be the "Bomb" when you get it done. I'll notify the committee to standby with the proper accolades when the time comes. Keep it coming mate.:thumb2:

Well thought I ought to make an effort to post an up date.
The first entrance to the cafe which had the film attached is going to be redone , much preferred the second shop front method
Been trying out making shutters using plastic strip, spent some time trying out methods , managed to do one
IMG_20220629_183525886.jpg
On its side but trying to angle the slats is tricky, so tonight had a rethink and redid the 4 in timber. Not exactly the same method but certainly good enough.
More on that tomorrow.

Today saw the glazing bars out into the building itself, I've left it flat over night so no photos yet .
What I do have is a few figures ! Seemed never ending , the differing manufacturers seem to mix ok.Some times I've found the difference is too great.

Have to say these civilians are a lot more complex than troops, with out the kit of course .
Hair styles on the women , resulting in two parts to the hair. Hats at weird angles .All good fun, then there were the ones sitting, now I don't know how MiniArt decided the hight of the chairs or the width of the seats but they are small compared to the people.
Still think they will look ok .

That's it for now, hopefully more tomorrow.
Thanks for looking in .

The figures will keep you busy for a while.
Not sure if you saw this earlier about the car colour https://cats-citroen.com/citroen_tractionavant/ta_colors.html
It's gives all the colour combos for each year, wheels, hubcaps dash, two tone colours etc.

From the looks of that "crowd" you will have your hands full with the Fig. painting JR......that bird in the back clutching her bag sort of reminds me of Matron :tongue-out3:

Great stuff…Crabtree, Madam Edith, a potential Matron precursor, even a Chuck berry impersonator on the right with the white hair….what’s not to like :tongue-out3:

All looking good John. I reckon there are more figures in this dio than I've done on the last 5 years. It going to be a winner.
Jim

Blimey John that really is a crowd! You will be an expert at painting figures by the end of this project!
Very exciting!

Brilliant John. By the time these are finished I will be coming to you for figure painting tips.:smiling3: .
John.
