Having been utterly defeated by this...thing last week, I 'happened' to find myself in Hobby Craft yesterday. Whilst travelling there I decided for the sake of £6.00 I may as well have another go at if they still had one in stock...worryingly, they did!

Do you have a good pair of tweezers? Because from what you said in the other thread, I kind of got the impression you had trouble fitting the (admittedly small) breech block. Since it’s a Tamiya kit, fit problems should really be pretty much non-existent, so I’m wondering if maybe you were using your fingers, and the parts are just a bit too small for that?

A) To be honest the fiddly stuff was just another layer of nuisance that I wasn't really dealing with very well. I should've just walked away but...errr...didn't. And paid the price. So I'm giving it another shot.

B) The problem I had last time (fiddliness aside) was that the barrel assembly was all on the piss not straight after I'd glued it in place on it's little supports. Some other tiny bit had snapped so I had to guess how it'd fit, and although successful on that point, it was pretty much doomed due to point A.
However, this time I'm prepared for all this... I think :smiling5:

Obviously I’m still on the bike jag, but trying to clear a couple of unfinished jobs first before I can get anywhere near these....
Moulding looks excellent in both cases....pity the Honda’s seat is moulded in white though, polished plastic looks better for vinyl than paint....
Not planning to add to the stash again this year....
Tim

Drat, you caught in to my subterfuge....I would have gotten away with it if it wasnt for those meddling kids....

A few weeks ago I mentioned to the present Mrs. Ron that I intended to finally get around to adding more Zulus to my Rorkes Drift Diorama.

I then promptly forgot about it. Just look what postie has just delivered! Thank you light of my life......

Slightly disappointed because the superb original figures from this same company were made from a hard plastic. These new ones are made from that awful soft stuff!

Hey ho, "Zulus, farsan's of 'em!"

Not model related but a bargain find in my recycling centre shop just needs a charger and new tail rotor.
As I do plan to take up flying again in the near future.

Nice one Ron, just clean them well and prime in gesso before painting and they’ll be fine....

What you want is this:
superglueallplastics_2g-4ml_product_details.png

(I had to get that off the Australian Pattex site because they apparently don’t have a UK one, but there’s probably similar products available there. Or you could always mail-order some from another country while we still let you :tongue-out:)

This is superglue plus a kind of marker pen with stuff you apply to hard-to-glue plastic, let it sit for a minute or so, and then add the glue and press the two together. From experience, I can say it glues polyethylene figures like those Esci ones to plastic wargames bases and they don’t come apart if moderate force is applied (I never tested how much force is needed to break the bond, but it certainly stands up to regular handling).

will,be looking forward to seeingg these,s added,
oh what a shame there ,that soft stuff, never got around ,how to make paint stay on them,
wish you luck,with that,

Thanks for all the pointers folks. Much appreciated.

I just use a General Purpose adhesive (99p for a huge tube). As the figures don't get touched once glued to the base it works fine.

Been supporting our gracious Host again :nerd:
By my calculations, Ive purchased over £200 worth of moggeling bits from Johns shop in the last 7 months :flushed: ....do I get shares soon?:smiling5:
Here’s my latest spend....
