Latest Acquisitions (2019)

Not sure where this should go, but it’s a new acquisition and it’s a model, so it’s going here :nerd:
I retired last week after thirty four years plus as a fermenter specialist. As a leaving present the coded welder on the maintenance crew made me this model.....

It’s a model of the new 3000L fermenter train I spent the last three years advising on as subject matter expert ......basically made out of stainless scrap in his lunch breaks. Apparently it took about a fortnight....
Well chuffed with it....the model is about a foot high for those who still view things in old money....l
Congratulations on your retirement Tim, a very nice model and a great gift from your co-workers.
Hope you have many extra hours of bench time:thumb2:.

Last week I was in the local department store (Hema) and in the sale section I found these:

Although intended for photos, I think they’ll very handy in storing all the spare decals I currently have in a shoebox….:rolling:
Had four for just €6, they were 70% off:nerd:.

Still better than what you sometimes see, that they put it in a cardboard box. I seem to remember my father receiving a hose coupling or something like that a few years ago, in a box that could have held a hundred. But yeah, why didn’t they just take a regular-sized envelope and put the item in there, then reinforce it all with some packing tape?
Amazon are like that, large box full of crushed up paper and in the corner the item you've ordered. They probably only have a small selection to choose from .

Thanks Fernando, I hope so too, though a house move may take some of my newfound freedom.......I need to re-establish a man cave first as well....

Happy birthday to me:smiling4:

Sneaky Mrs B has been paying attention and got me not one.....but two kits!!

The flakpanzer I has been on my wanted list for ages but I’m really looking forward to building the Mig...the box art camo looks great to me.

Very nice Mr. Benson,

You should have some fun with those 2. Oh, and a Big Happy Birthday to you too!!!

Prost auf Dich

After doing a whole month of 12 hour days inc overtime, SWMBO has given me a little spending money. So naturally i had to spend it on a model. I have been after one of these for ages and found this one going on evilbay. Chuffed as punch i got it.

Postie delivered this - as a result of my ebay auction lurking - valom wellesley.jpg

For the not expensive price of £13 delivered! I remember making the Matchbox version many years ago, with its starved cow representation of the geodetic construction! This is streets ahead, very clean mouldings, PE, and a very nice instruction set. This took my fancy, it's a bit off-beam, just how I like them!
Again, it shows that you can get real bargains on ebay, patience, knowing the subject and regular visits can pay off

Post lady had returned Tuesday bringing these

You might remember the ChTZ61 From Trumpeter with the LZ Resin engine
This S60 was the predecessor been waiting over a year for it's release
Handled by LZ again, was offered it on a 10 % discount, so had to have it:nerd::smiling3:

Next was .IMG_20190806_142326925.jpg
Thanks goes your very own Mr T who had put me on to the Russian sale, he then found this, again at a knock down price, think it was 50%.:tongue-out3::smiling3:
Thanks Simon .

Today came.IMG_20190807_162811577.jpg

got these for nothing

someone approached my IPMS branch......seems he had given up modelmaking over 20 years ago and had just re-found his stash in the loft,......about 40 kits........and then gave us the kits on the condition they were built not sold for a profit....we had a bit of a lottery between ourselves........it was mostly aircraft with a sprinkling of other stuff.....i 'won' the only car kit......no one wanted the strikemaster so i had it for old times sake as i can remember doing the Omani version as a kid in the 70s.......no one wanted the figures which is half a box worth, but as im planning an airfield dio which i can use for a photo background i only need a couple anyway

we are already thinking of a branch GB

happy days

Thanks Lee, good looking Ferrari there, though the kit is probably as old as me...mouldings still look pretty clean though. There were some interesting vehicles in the old Airfix 32 range....
