Put a cheeky bid on this and no reply so thought it was a no. Out of the blue he accepted, did not know it also included metal barrells!

Bought the warship pictorial book on these last week, the USN have them as heavy cruisers others as battlecrusiers??

Hope Mr Race is sitting down lol. Just sold a large amount of kits so part one of my new years resolution is up and running!

Great excitement here at Race Towers, the post dept have just reported a delivery has come from the SMS
Evidence below.

Had a look at the heads - means checking the stock of Hornet, don't want them all sitting with hats on.

Like Dave Ward gradually changing over to AK gen 3, will take some time but certainly worth it.

The VMS AB cleaner is worth a try, I use it all the time now, this bottle is concentrated and will make up to 1Ltr
Those Binders are to replace the Vallejo one which unfortunately didn't appear to work for me.

On a slight tangent to actual modelling but it may be inspiration for a 1/35 vignette to add to my small series of occupation related vignettes:

it is the wartime biography of Hubert Nicolle MC who could be described as the British Army's first commando - on Churchill's orders he made a one-man recon of Guernsey on 8 July 1940, operation Anger. No 3 Commando's first raid on Guernsey took place on 15 july 1940.

His second mission to Guernsey was 3 September 1940. The Navy failed to collect him so after a while on hiding with friends and family he had to surrender to the Germans.

Late delivery to Race Towers Postal dept this afternoon.

Big thank you to Jason Crausby who kindly sent these for my Russian Shadow box build.

I was wondering, I thought at first they were pallets but then figured they were far too small and had too many bits :)

ALLRIGHTYTHEN !!
Some much awaited components for my current Dio have arrived:thumb2:,
I appear to be adding "Extra`s" to what is already a potentially, quite large Dio,but "HEY"!!...... I just can`t help it:flushed: !! First a boring part....
IMG20210122142136.jpg
100 coffee stirrers for £2.55 delivered..... they`re for the feather boarding which will front the Cricket Pavillion i have to make;),
Next,I wanted a British Motorcycle, and despite having well over a dozen Bike kits in the stash, not ONE is British!.After much investigation i realised that they`re quite few and far between, and even then, they ain`t the best!.... HOWEVER,if you`re prepared to pay a bit more, you can get this........
IMG20210121171300.jpg
Now,THIS i consider a real find,(Must admit that lately i`ve turned to some of the less popular makes and found them to be really, rather excellent quality!),3 figures,Two Bikes, etch sets,Decals and a sprue full of weapons and PE,(That sprue has only a few bits needed for the builds, the rest is all,top notch, spare kit and weapons:hugging-face: !!),
Then i thought,"If you`re having a Copper around to check the situation out,you should really have a Fire Officer doing the same"....... So......

A VERY nice, and reasonably priced resin piece from F.O.G. Models fitted the bill a treat! So there you have it,just a couple figs to yet source and......
....... My Dio is very much................. "Go,Go Bodge it hands"!!;)

More for my current Sherman series :)

View attachment 411913

I bought these second-hand, but not started yet. The M3 also has a set of two aluminium barrels included, the “Victory Kiss” is an M4A3 (76 mm) VVSS Sherman, with limited-edition resin figures as per the box art.

Also, someone I know had this for sale, that I went and picked up earlier this afternoon:

A cartridge case for a 17-pounder gun, 1944 production. To give an idea of the size, the carpet tiles on the floor are 50 cm square :)

Just arrived

Will use to make plastic discs, the Tamiya KGV has a good few ejector marks in not very nice places, so hopefully can fill with plastic discs,

Thanks to Steve ( again )

I've found it helps to have a sacrificial piece of card against the 'anvil' part to be sure that the cutter goes all the way through the styrene and gives a clean edge all the way round the disc

Under £8.00 delivered. Not bad for a 17" long submarine (The 1/350 subs go for a lot more) and don't you just luuuurve the big lump of water these things push ahead of themselves? Not to mention the huge holes of water either side!

P1290267.JPG

As with most submarine kits, not many parts. This has even got a one piece conning tower and the instructions are on the box base!

Cheers,

Just got these from Claire Gilbert at Sylvan Scale Models of Ontario, Ca. They will make a nice addition to my collection of captured vehicles that were used by the Wehrmacht. My understanding is, these were used by Romania and were pressed into service by the Soviets as well.......I know, they re Resin kits, (not my thing) but I like them enough to suffer through this. I'll start a thread when I begin the build. Rick H.P1011676.JPG

Ron, When finished you can torpedo nelson for me :tongue-out3: looks a bargain

As promised the alternative paint mixer has arrived ...

After seeing Stephen's post above I ordered one too, got it today from the mailman.
It seems to work a lot faster than the flat 'nail polish shaker' I used before...

I noticed the cable for the LED was touching the rotating disks, so I opened it up to fix this
IMG_0376.JPG

I fixed the cable in an other position but it's worth mentioning that the legs of the LED were not insulated and almost touching each-other, so I've put tape on one of the legs.
IMG_0377.JPG

The ON/OFF switch when you touch the top-part with a bottle doesn't switch-off sometimes,
but overall, this thing does work very well for shaking paints, so recommended.

Have a nice day, Steven
