Latest Acquisitions (2021)

A little envelope was slipped through my letterbox..........
DSCF1355.JPG
50 little figures, two or three of which will be crew for my 1/144 U-boat - they're actually 'N' Gauge railway passengers - 1/150, but who can tell the difference ( each adult figure is about 12mm tall )? Paint them in dark colours, and they should add a bit of life to the model! Ebay purchase, all the way from Bodmin!

The two books by Mike Starmer on British vehicle camouflage in the Second World War that I didn’t have yet. Ordered a few days ago from the author and they already arrived in the mail.

Dave, nice to see someone taking notice of me at last..... :thumb2:

Written as a lighthearted leg pull. ;)

Hi Jakko

what are they like? Does he have a website or is it just email?

Thanks.

Andrew

They are very good if you’re after solid information on British vehicle colours, based on official documents and original paints he’s examined. Each volume also includes paint chips and model paint mixes for them. I would highly recommend them if this subject interests you. There are four volumes: the two above plus on about the UK, France and N.W. Europe 1936 to 45, and one on the Caunter scheme.

I’ll send you a private message with Mike’s e-mail address, you can just mail him about the books you want and he’ll inform you how to pay.

I got this Olfa circle cutter today, perhaps it will help with masking wiper sweep on windscreens and wheel masks.

Rubbish picture but I am sure you have all seen one before.

Andy.

After seeing Stephen's post above I ordered one too, got it today from the mailman.
It seems to work a lot faster than the flat 'nail polish shaker' I used before...

I noticed the cable for the LED was touching the rotating disks, so I opened it up to fix this

I fixed the cable in an other position but it's worth mentioning that the legs of the LED were not insulated and almost touching each-other, so I've put tape on one of the legs.

The ON/OFF switch when you touch the top-part with a bottle doesn't switch-off sometimes,
but overall, this thing does work very well for shaking paints, so recommended.

Have a nice day, Steven

Thanks for the heads up

I'll check how mine looks inside

Regards

Steve H

Currently winging its way from AK;

Must have been one of the lucky ones as getting the free weathering products.

Looks like I'll be furloughed for another 2 months so I've stocked up on a few kits to keep me entertained

A bit of an old one but might make a nice little scene

This thing is tiny but I'm looking forward to beating it up. A base idea on the front of the box so I don't have to try and think about one lol

My first go at an ICM kit so uncharted territory. Fingers crossed.

And most importantly, Zoe came home with this tonight. I think she's finally got fed up of me moaning about the cold shed :smiling5:

Today the postman from China arrived........

Just the models, not the piston crown mind.
Stash area is now full in no uncertain terms.

Just arrived...........................
heller merc 500K.jg.jpg
Not to get too excited - it's a basket case! Ebay purchase - essentially a box of bits, already started ( by a 3 year old with a hot glue gun? ). Parts seem to be there, but will require a bleach bath to remove the horrible chrome, and careful disassembly to see if the parts are useable.
Pristine models are expensive - £25 ( + p&p upwards ), so this for a tenner was worth a punt.....

This lot arrived over the past week, replacement 1/144 decals for Tu-2, Me177 and the Lancaster.

Direct from Poland in less than a week the full after market parts and barrel set for my card bismarck IMG_20210203_140811.jpgIMG_20210203_140806.jpgIMG_20210203_140752.jpgIMG_20210203_140747.jpg

Tired of bending grab handles from wire using pliers, I’ve invested in a bending tool, and while I was ordering there anyway, I decided to buy some punches:

View attachment 413022

These are for making domed rivets — I already have a regular punch-and-die set from RP Toolz, so rather than buy a third full set I just ordered five “spare” ones, 0.6 through 1.0 mm, that I intend to use with the die I have.

I've been using Vallejo-primer on all my models without serious issues,
However, since quite a lot of people have problems with Vallejo-primer I really want to test out some other (beter?) primers.
So I've ordered some Mig 'One shot' bottles to play with - Hoping for the best :thumb2:

And for Mr Race, a StuG nearly ready;)

Bought this one of Facebook marketplace, the want to build all panther variants has reignited... swmbo says its a tank, you already have one like that!... yes I do but not this one! :smiling: , I'm not going down the route of having to explain myself and all the variants (I can say that, she's not about :tears-of-joy:)

After a conflab with the good Mr Race I've ordered a few sheets of foamboard to have a crack at some modest buildings. A couple of his preferred Kappa type that can be peeled & carved, and some cheaper stuff for general use.

Big sheets though! :surprised:
