Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Nice kit Karl. When you come to build it give me a shout and i'll let you know some tips to stop you having fit problems with it. This is the scheme that i am going to be building but in 1:32 :)

This afternoon, I went to the largest model show in the Netherlands, and though it was a bit disappointing in terms of traders present (it’s more a show than a trade convention anyway), I did decide to buy this:

An Asuka Sherman III (“limited edition”, meaning it has a set of resin stowage included), and also some Tamiya tape for curves for the upcoming film/TV group build, as well as some sculpting tools/picks to add to my existing collection of those ;) (Hey, they were a euro each, why not?)

Bit of a compromise, but finally have some display space inside the house, used to be a slim bookcase here full of DVDs, they all fit in the bottom.
Just need to pick up a glass shelf to divide the top space, which I forgot to do when swapping over the damaged door earlier today.

I had No idea that you liked Sherman tanks!! :tongue-out2: :tongue-out3: :thumb2:;)
The funny thing is, 15–20 years ago, I didn’t particularly. Reading (a lot) more about them has changed my mind, largely because of the very large variety you can make of what is still essentially the same tank. Which is why I got this particular one: an M4A2 with an early hull (with or without the direct vision flaps for the drivers) is still missing in my collection :)

I get where you are coming from Jakko......the variations seem endless. I had a friend that was trying to recreate most versions in HO scale Resin kits......I think he burned himself out and gave up a few years back Hasn't been seen in the retail market for some time now. Have you read Steve Zaloga's book "Armored Thunderbolt"? If not, I consider it a must read for Sherman Fanatics Fans. :thumb2:

Heh … good luck with that, even given that some detail differences can’t be seen in 1:87 but can in larger scales, he would end up with a very big collection.

Yes, and IMHO one of the three essential books for the proper Shermanophile :) Hunnicutt’s Sherman is the second, and Son of Sherman by Stansell and Laughlin the third.

Is it airbrush cleaner or is it a giant bottle of extra thin? From what I've read, it's both! And around half the price of TET

Be interested to here how it compares with TET in practice Dale :thumb2:

Geoff.

1/87 Kniga Autocar U-8144 5-6 ton tractor soft top in resin. Just finished clean-up & started cab construction (seats/floor/floor base to cab shell). NO resin blocks, just very thin flash. Good, but not great, instructions due to Kniga std. photos.

A pretty boring acquisition, but I couldn't resist at 50% off the marked price....

First you don’t go to model shows for three years, then you do two in two days … I had gone to one fairly close to home yesterday, and when I came home, found an e-mail from an acquaintance asking if I wanted to come to MKB Happening in Bornem, Belgium, that was held today. Never been there, so sure, why not :) I came away with this:

Oddly for me, I bought a Formula 1 car. I have for years been thinking of getting a Tyrrell P34, simply because I’ve always thought it’s the coolest-looking one ever, and when I saw this one today I decided to go for it :) Also some diorama things to use as photo backdrops, not for building an actual diorama, a set of British tank crew and one of petrol cans (reduced price because they forgot to put the etched handles into the bag, said Graham from Resicast :) ) and some paint and a drybrush brush — might as well give both of those a try, I figure.

I've had some acquisitions over the past couple weeks. last weekend a friend and I went to a very well stocked hobby shop almost two hours away, hence we only go once a year. They were having a 25% off sale, so I made a decision to forgo getting some smaller kits and get two larger ones that I had seen on last years visit.

Really like the subject, and it is very well molded, but lacks any interior detail in the gun positions and wheelhouse. Not all the portholes are molded in clear either, so will take a bit of work to bring those areas up to the standard of the rest of the kit. Rather disappointing considering the price of the kit.

Another kit I have wanted to build, it is huge, but really a quite simple looking kit, enhancing the exterior details and paint job will hopefully really bring it to life. Even though the instructions only show an overall green paint scheme, photographic evidence shows this unit was at one time painted in the unique Soviet railroad track camo scheme ;) Will certainly have to consider that option when the time comes.

And, lastly from Hannants IBG's early Pz. II. I like the early Panzers so put this on preorder!
These should keep me busy for the rest of the year! :smiling::smiling:

Bought some 'flat' things in the Tank Museum Shop, as we didn't had enough space in our bags for more :smiling6:
