Latest Acquisitions (2023)

A couple of Christmas Faireys came today.

The better half gave me a budget for model pressies this year so I spent it with John. They didn't exactly come down the chimney with Santa though, rather DPD threw them over a 6 foot fence and left them in the rain all day :rolling:

I'm not allowed them before the big day though so bought myself a little something to be getting on with

Yeah Andy, I have that with the Azon sometimes, I demand and get compensation for damaged goods (their packaging getting wet...)

Two excellent FAA classics and a fav from 'the Nam'. Very nice.
Be defo watching these if you blog them. Have a connection with two of them!!
Gannet, well I served at HMS Gannet which had one as Gate Guard. Also, first aircraft I threw spanners at in my engineering training!
The Swordfish, A very good friend of mine was part of the Royal Navy Historic Flight Swordfish crew. What a job. Yes I'll admit to a certain amount of envy!!!

Thankfully they were well packaged so as far as I can tell the kits survived the ordeal :smiling3:

Of course, the absolute worst that could happen from a model kit getting wet, is that the decals become unusable and the pages of the instructions are stuck together. I would be highly surprised if the plastic parts suffered from being out in the rain :)

Oh, and if you want a colourful one, you can make this as one of the Canadian Army Trophy 87 winners:

Cheers Jakko. My patience paid off searching on e.bay.Might do one on exercise with the tarp wrapped round the sideskirts.Convert some old VP Nato tank crew for the crew im thinking.

Is that a Phantom build in the background I see? I built that scheme Phantom a while back - very nice.

Ebay win...............................

Short run model from 1997 - at a good price!
Dave
I can’t wait to tuck into some of my 72s. I’m starting to get that nostalgia again. Love these old kits from yesteryear - really test you but in a good way

Paul,
I lost my interest in 1/72, but lately it's beginning to pick up again! That early Stuka in splinter camo really attracted me............

Morning chaps

So I have recently been looking for a 1/72 P-51 to finish off my collection of 1/72 wingy things , and indeed to finish my stash full stop, as I realised I did not have a 1/72 US WWII fighter but I have been struggling to find any at what I consider a reasonable price when P&P is added.

Something then made me look at the website of Hobbycraft***......to discover they were doing a special offer of 25% off a lot of purchases made via their app...they also give you a £5 voucher for your birthday, which as you know I have just had.....

Unfortunately though they have a £10 minimum 'click and collect', so I had to buy a second kit...

....

In short......rather than these two costing £24 as per their website.....I paid only £13......£6.50 each.

And as for speed of service....simply outstanding.....I pressed the 'Buy' button at 23 minutes past midnight 'today' and they emailed at 8:32 this morning to say that they were ready for collection!

ACW as usual

Andrew

*** for non-UK members, they are a national UK chain of general arts/crafts/hobby stores that does a reasonable range of kits.
