Ok, as always it all starts with me needing something small - a paint, a brush or something like that.
This time it was glue and cleaner.

Since I live in the middle of nowhere, there are no local model shops, so I have to order the things. So it only makes sense to order a few other things at the same time - to save on postage!
This means I am practically economical and environmentally conscious at the same time!

In order to protect the planet and my wallet, this time there were a few kits in 1:72 scale. The Centaur will be my contribution to the D-Day group building. You will also see the other two here soon.

And then there was this other thing...
Do you know when you've seen something that you think is great - but it's actually completely unreasonable and doesn't fit "into the concept" or your wallet at all - or you don't have any room for it at all?
That's how I've been feeling for some time now with these 1/16 scale kits of the early German tanks. For years I've been telling myself that this is all nonsense and that I don't need anything like that. Then the models were sold out - and suddenly something was available again in my trusted online shop. And somehow a fuse blew on me... :tears-of-joy: :tears-of-joy:

My pocket money for this month is definitely gone. I'm excited to see if I'll ever finish building the thing - but somehow I'd like to start right away! ..better not. :smiling5:
Best regards,
Andreas

That is an odd kit … It has a ton of minor problems, but I liked it anyway :) Its worst feature is the wheels, if you use the ones with pressed spokes they just look very poorly done. The dish wheels look better. You may also want to file the front of the turret to make it a bit rounder, as Zvezda moulded it much to angular. Correcting the nose and the angle of the loader’s hatch may be a bit more advanced steps, though.

Wait, I just remembered that I built that kit on here a few years ago :)

Useful! :thumb2: I've just found a Culin Cutter, that I can print & a bit more extreme, a Whizbang turret!

Just had to look up a whizbang turret. Recognised it when I saw it, but have never heard the nickname before….

It is called GUILT, that and the glare from across the room where nothing is said but you understand every word, and those words send you lower and lower into the sofa cushions uttering unintelligible but! but! but! sounds....
We have all been there and wear the scars with pride.....
:tears-of-joy: If SWMBO ever finds one of the bills, GUILT quickly turns to FEAR!

Wifey bought be a surprise present.. Amazon dumped it outside our door, so we were lucky to get it at all but it wasn't in a box or a bag and the front image is ruined by a huge sticker that won't peel off. Way to go guys, would it have killed you to put it in a box?

Oh I hate it when they do that, it's bad enough when my LMS sticks their non-removable price stickers on the box (they should know better) but Amazon are the worst - I've had that happen to me a number of times.

Awesome pressie though!!! :thumb2::smiling5:

For the D-Day group build, I had the Resicast conversion set to build a Sherman BARV, but not a Sherman to stick it onto. That has now been remedied:

(Ironically, I now have the type of Sherman that @Lee Drennen has a deep-wading set for … just in the wrong scale :) )

Also an airbrush holder, because I got rather tired of precariously balancing my airbrush on the table or holding them between my knees when I’m using it but need both my hands for something. And speaking of airbrushing, when I wanted to spray the models I have in temporary custody, I found I didn’t have enough dark yellow, so I also ordered a bottle of that, plus a few other colours I can use.

A nice new airbrush hose complete with never had one before 'quick release' connection, it's three meters long, so the compressor can live in it's semi sound proof cupboard while I blow paint on to polystyrene.

Miko (my old one managed to uncrimp itself at the hose union joint, after ordering the new one I managed to repair the old one!)

I'm away for a few nights next week for work, so whilst I'm stuck in a crap hotel room I thought I'd take something along to play with. I doubt I'll get to paint, but I can take some basic building tools with me.

Hey Steve, I know your pain! the best way to remove the sticker is to warm it with a hair dryer, if you're careful and get it nice and warm it works 9/10 times.

This turned up a year or two ago from Amazon

I do like a prototype!!

Mitsubishi XT2 (1).jpg

Out of service by 2006, I wonder which was the last JASDF T2?

Well,my airbrush set up is in the garage, too big and noisy for my,already rammed, modelling room.
I stumbled across this little beauty on Amazon last night....

...and it arrived today at 2pm!!

It's currently on offer,reduced by 40% from £89.99 to £54.39, including postage!!
Not used it in anger yet,but have set it up and played with the 3 pre set air pressures. It has very good reviews, and imho it FEELS like it should do a half decent job.Obviously it's no Iwata, but for the likes of me it suits for camo, base coating, priming, washes etc.
It's tiny,(about the size of one of the original C.D. "Walkman" type things), very quiet and can also be run on it's internal lithium battery for up to 70 minutes,if necessary.
All in all I think it's a cracking little thing, especially good if you're thinking about airbrushing but don't want to lay out a lot of cash!

Saw an advert on Facebook the other day for this which arrived today :smiling3:

While looking through the other products they do I saw this and couldn’t resist as it’s the plane flown by one of my heroes Eric Lock :smiling4:

Those look excellent - what was the website?

Had a free hour or so this morning so I popped down the road to Rhuddland models - not a bad little shop if you're ever in the area.

They had some nice kits in there - a lot of AFV Club Churchills and Airfix M10s for some reason, but I came home with this - I have a soft spot for softskins and this looked like fun. I thought it would go well with the Jeep I picked up the other day. Only £22. It was either this or an Italeri M.8 Greyhound for the same price.

And I also picked this up from the 2nd hand pile for £7. I'm not really into German stuff as such (although I'm not anti it either), but it looked like a fun little project. I might build it up on wheels and find something to tow it behind - open to suggestions as to what.
