HI ALL Postie dropped this off this morn for me
a nice super hornet cutaway to help with my buildIMG_0243.JPG

Over on Scalemates, someone offered this Churchill kit for sale:

“Already started” he said, which now I have it, I consider a slight understatement:

More like “almost completed, with some broken bits that are all there” — but for €11 including postage, I can’t complain, can I? Especially as it also has an aftermarket set of resin exhausts with etched covers. I do need to disassemble the turret to correct it, and buy a set of separate-link tracks for it, but at this price, I don’t mind.
If you need another turret I can let you have one, PM me. Mike.

Hi folks,

As I stated in my GTR build, life is back to normal and my 4 brain cells are once again working. Some retail therapy helped, but what I ended up with was pretty outrageous, to say the least!!! I gave out €147 and ended up with all this from various places. Evilbay got me this for cheap,

I always wanted one and I have the Friuls to go on it too. A rain forest buy for €49.99 delivered and I had a €28 credit from them,

Dude 2 (JR) got me hyped up with his and I wanted one, but I guess with all the tax and import duties, the Insel price is much higher than here......A new release from Dragon of an old kit, but it comes with figs now too and was €47.00 delivered,

The cover is now matt printed and no details of the kit. Ron Volstad's pic is still used. The figs that come with it,

The box bottom is plain cardboard now with no pics either. Another evilbay grab was a 3 kit deal for €47.50 delivered. They were,

The etch set is from Plus Models and is for the radio van. It was inside the kit. The box was rather large and also included all this for free,

All sealed in their bags and the figs are the Tamiya Fallschirmjäger set from 1971. There was even more,

All Tamiya with 2 sets of FlaK figs in winter clothing, a Flak 38 Vierling AA gun and the pedestal to mount it on a vehicle, w/decals. Talk about a surprise!!! It was like Christmas in July. The only other thing in the box was a hand written note in German that said "Thank you for your purchase"...............

Prost (and still shocked)
Allen
The book is not what I expected, but thankfully the author does go into how he builds his structures. Well worth the money.

Hello mate, now that was hell of a shopping trip. But you bagged yourself some nice kits.

I guess you were due some good luck , Allen!
Thanks guys and yeah I got lucky. End of September, my friend Thorsten and I have 5 meters of tables at a show to display our builds as private folks. The organizer also said we could use 1 meter of it to sell stuff too. Mega stash clearance is in the cards for it. Man doesn't need 3 Italeri Opel radio truck kits, do they???

I scanned through it quickly and it does seem interesting. I have to sit down and do a good read soon. I also wanted the 500+ page AK F.A.Q. diorama book, but €109 was a bit too pricey for my blood...

Prost

Thanks for the offer, but that’s not necessary. AFV Club made a mistake with the Mk. VI turret, making the round part underneath taller than on the Mk. IV, rather than wider. But the kit also includes the Mk. IV lower part, and I think I have two more of those kicking around from the AVREs I built, so what I need to do is pry off the lower part and stick the other one on, then add a collar around it from some plastic strip. Easy :)

Be careful Allen, the "Zügkraftwagen" is probably a Turkish copy of the German vehicle! :tongue-out3: :tears-of-joy:

Hello,
I was lucky again with eBay!
There was a whole collection of different M113 kits available and I won this S-Model set. It contains two vehicles and the only drawback is the tracks. But I can replace these quite easily with the help of 3D printing! :tongue-out3:

The next set is for my small 1/144 collection. Also a bit of a bargain. It seems as if you only find the "big ones" of these Dragon Panzer Korps things. The normal battle tanks are incredibly expensive!

And the next bundle was a great surprise! Our good Jakko here has cleared out his stuff and given me some 1/144 models. In addition to the heavy mortar, there are a few unfinished models (Challenger 2, Leopard 2 + 2 US Amtracs) and decals that I will of course happily use for my purposes.

Once again, my big thanks for this very generous gesture!

You’re welcome to them, at least then they might actually get finished someday :) I’ve had the bagged models for 15 years or so, and not done any work on them for … at least 14 :) I wonder where I put the boxes, though, because I think there must also be a Leopard 2A4 in addition to the 2A5, and etched parts for both?

Well done Jakko!

As the Churchill I bought readymade only had soft-plastic tracks, but on a Churchill especially those just look a little off, I had to get a set of separate-link ones from AFV Club. I then decided to also buy some more stuff, like paint for the BARV and a set of drybrushing brushes (I bought one last year, and found it works well enough to get the whole set — the packaging is a bit overly luxurious, though), as well as Green Stuff that isn’t years past its use-by date :)

Me again!

I almost feel guilty, but this time Allen thought of me and gave me his 1/72 models that he no longer needs. Once again, my greatest thanks for this generosity! I hope I can return the favor somehow.

A new 1/1 scale addition nicely rebuilt engine drove 40 miles home up the M5 from Exeter didn't even break a sweat despite the roasting outside (and in) one of last 16 left on the road although it looks like a reliant robin it's a BN1 built under licence using the robin name IMG_20240730_131552.jpg

Hopefully this will rekindle my enthusiasm for the Wasp!! (Hopefully!!!!)

10 days in the Polish mail system!! 1.5 days in Royal Mails! (They're trying to make me eat my words!!).

I've been trying to decide what to build next and this new Airfix release caught my eye. The usual speedy, fuss free service from the shop :

Along with that I've had a restock on some items, a new airbrush stand, a couple of the new AK marker pens to try, and a selection of brass tubes that have been on my wishlist for longer than I can remember

And just for a laugh a friend asked if I could do a jazzed up version of his transit MRST. This was the nearest thing I could find, all the way from Germany. It's around 1/18 scale and comes complete with flashing lights and sound effects :tears-of-joy:

You really did not need to go to such an expense just to mount my portrait photo, after all when you offer to buy me a drink, I have seen you collecting all the leftovers in the pub and putting it into one glass, such care and thoughtfulness takes some beating.....

Hi all

Just realised I forgot to share this when I left my old job. They had a nice collection for me....now the question is what do I spend the money on?
