Mmm, I won the Mosquito in a raffle recently, it looks a lovely kit, ironically I'd bought the 1/48 version of it about a week earlier and then got the Airfix 1/72 PRU edition as an Airfix Mystery Kit! Mossie heaven.

OK chaps.....so a few more arrivals....

One boring one.....

....two early Christmas arrivals after my daughter told me how much she was spending on me......

...and one that demonstrates outstanding customer service.....

ACW as usual

Andrew

-------------------------------------

The boring....have recently acquired some AK paints, I needed some thinner.....

I had pressed 'buy' on these last weekend after they popped up on eBay for good prices.....that or the next day, my daughter said "Dad, for Christmas I will give you £XXX to spend on whatever (she really emphasised the 'whatever') you want for Christmas.' So whilst I can't have them now, they and some other items I have on pre-order have cost me nothing!! The joys of your kids earning a decent wage!!

And now for the excellent customer service......

You may recall from my post last week (link), that following the very sad death of a club member back in late 2022, I acquired Hauler's resin 1/72 AEC Mk III armoured car but that it was missing the PE and decals. I took a chance and emailed Hauler last Saturday, asking if I could purchase the PE and decals for a reasonable price. After all I had knowingly bought the kit second had without them.

Well yesterday...the PE arrived from Hauler in only 5 days (they're based in the Czech Republic!!!)....and for free!! I'm sure I have some decals I can use somewhere. All credit to Jan at Hauler.

The post he was commenting on was the post that the comment was attached to. It was what they where ment for.
Pay attention at the back!

I had similar good service from AZ Models also in the Czech Republic, just sorted it.

I've just realised that I hadn't posted about our new family member. After we lost Millie the house was too empty.

This is the inappropriately-named Snuggles. Adopted from Cats Protection. Her history is a little vague, but apparently she was owned by an elderly lady who passed away at the beginning of 2024. She was with her owner's son for a short while, then was in Cats Protection's cattery, but was getting very stressed by the other cats there, so she was moved to a foster home. The son said she's 6 years old, but two vets have said she's not older than 2.
She's misnamed - not at all 'snuggly' but after all the disturbance in her life that's not surprising. She's getting friendlier though and loves a little head scratch.

Well done for adopting an adult cat......she will soon settle and become snuggly

Are you going to rename her?

I'm not a cat person but she's a very pretty, cute little girl. I have no doubt that given a month or two of TLC her name will be very appropriate.

I can't seem to quote both above posts, but yes Jim, she's gorgeous isn't she. Might take more than a month or two to be a lap cat, but she's already after 6 weeks a lot more friendly.

Pete
EDIT: Seem to have lost my reply to Paul, but we won't rename her.

Well done, all of our current 4 moggies are from cat rescue charities.

Nice Score Ian (just testing out the comment function here) I haven't painted with Enamels for years but glad to hear they're made in the UK again.

So i was wandering around my local Dobbies garden centre (looking for some spring flowering bulbs to put in soon) and as i meandered thro the odds and ends gifty section bit i chanced on a display of wooden kits!!!!!!

I really liked the foot high owl shaped pendulum clock but i didnt want to pay the price.....but they had a selection of things for a tenner......merry go round or drum kit or hot air balloon ......i settled for a fokker dreidecker

Its actually quite big.....210mm long by 178mm wing span......145 parts.....for a tenner!

Time for something very different; this is actually a birthday present for my brother:

The kit has everything needed - including putty for the sea and a glass bottle, along with a jig to help with the rigging. This is a real bottle - no cheating the ship has to be rigged then the masts folded to get it into the bottle and then the masts raised.

the twist to this is that I have bought the. Cutty sark version for myself and plan to set my brother the challenge of finishing in time for a showdown on Christmas day! Should be a fun challenge.
