Latest Acquisitions (2026)

An old kit (1982 mould) of an even older bike. The nearest I could get to the 1/1 scale that I'm working on for a customer.

Replenishing some paint & masking supplies

And I'm finally replacing my Mr Metal Color range. Whilst they are fantastic paints they have no durability at all, rubbing off with even gentle handling, so I've stocked up on most of the SMS range.
As always, delivered safely and speedily from Scale Model Shop.

You’ll enjoy that one. I did. Needs a bit more cleaning up, being an old moulding, but looks good when complete. I got the vinyl look on the seat by polishing the bare black plastic, but I bet you have a better idea. Look out for the decals though. They are typical crap Tamiya. I had one end of the tank flashes floating on the water while the other end wouldn’t release….

Cheers Tim, I'll watch out for the decals. Funny you should mention polishing the seat. I've done that with the Fireblade and quite like the look. I keep going back to it but I'm not sure I could improve on that tbh.

Great memory Joe: nine years ago!
I was contemplating waiting for the Airfix reboxing of their Shackleton which looks like it has two versions - MR & AEW. But when I saw this for £15 it was a no brainer. The surface detail is much different to the Airfix kit, lots and lots…..and lots of rivets.
The AEW2 fits into my wish list. As a boy I’d go to visit family on the Moray coast between Kinloss and Lossiemouth. From one side there’d be Nimrods and the other Shack’s, Bucc’s, Hunters and Jag’s - the sound and sight of the Shack’s was something else though.
I remembered your Shackleton from 9 years ago, but don't ask me what I had for dinner last night! I bet you watching and listening to all those exciting and varied types had a huge influence on you joining the RAF.
