Just had another arrive 10 minutes ago ..... another Zveda kit. An ambulance this time.

I'll take a couple up to Dounreay when I gok back and build them at night. That'll keep me out of trouble. :D

Mmmmmm yes please ..... :D

Love the armoured car. Just a little too late for me. If they had been around for WW2, I would have one.

Very nice indeed.

thanks for sharing ....

A couple more from myself including the American ambulance I received the other day .....

lets start with that ....

P1010618.webp

I believe they are or were made by Dodge who would be GM today.

P1010620.webp

Cant beat a flame thrower......... especially if you are a smoker. ..... no more lighters ..... just stand back a bit ....:D

and last ..... for now anyway .....

P1010619.webp

unfortunately too modern for WW2 use .... but what a model ..... looks superb.

cheers for now.

Apologies ...... just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water .....

another arrival ...... literally .......

P1010621.webp

Ahhhhhhh ..... but what is it I hear you say .....

P1010623.webp

A hot foam cutter .....

It's all fair and well having the Proxxon table foam cutter but no goof for when the foam is fixed to your base board. I'll report back with my opinion on this as soon as I have had the chance to use it ..... which may not be that far away.

cheers for now

A few bits for the P47 and 'slime lights’ for the A10.

One mistake the sharp-eyed will notice - the instrument panel is 1/48 - the GB is 1/72.

So I have 3 solutions:
1. email the suppliers and say I have made a mistake, do they have the 1/72 and I send the 1/48 back
2. Keep them for some later day when I may buy teh 1/48 if I can find it.
3. Order the 1/48 P47! My wife was least impressed by this option. Can’t think why.

My wife has finally taken the plunge and gone full EV.
Since today is her birthday we went "just for a browse" and ended up coming home with a Volvo! 😲
An XC40 Recharge Twin to be exact, but with dual motors, 4x4, and over 400bhp, it's definitely no pipe & slippers car.

It's so potent that it even comes with a second key for if you loan it out, which reduces the performance. Dafter still is that a simple £500 download from Volvo will up the power even further, bringing the 0-60 acceleration down to a hair over 4 seconds 😁

On the more sensible side it has extra internal space compared to her previous CH-R hybrid, with minimal extra footprint. The 4x4 and extra ground clearance will be very welcome as we often grounded out her Toyota on trips to the Peak District. Running costs & insurance will both be much lower too, more than offsetting the slight increase in monthly payments.

One slight downside - we haven't had a charging point fitted at home yet 😂 so need to get on with that sharpish!

Very nice indeed.

I'd be interested to learn about the charger install process. Keep us posted please.

Cheers

Thanks guys, we're loving it so far.

I'd done loads of research, and had a wish list of spec, but to be honest the XC40 wasn't even on our radar. We popped down to the car supermarket where I'd worked for 17 years as I knew there'd be a huge range to look at, and this just stood out, ticking all of our boxes and more.

One of my good friends from there is now general manager, so twiddled the figures to get me a cracking deal and let us take it away the same day.

The wall charger is likely to be a mates rates job too, since my wife works with over 100 electricians. No doubt I'll be under the floorboards running cable and one of them will be terminating it in exchange for a few beers 😂

I am an ex electrician. Worked in the trade until I was around 28 but rarely touch it now ..... just if I must. Too old for this under floors and in attics now. :D

This was picked up from Hobbycraft yesterday and is now working in its most basic way.
Mainly bought so my wife can make masks for her Linocut printing, cuts down the amount of cutting needed.
Luckily for me It also works very nicely for cutting out masks for things such as windows on my models.
Scan in the shape, save it then cut out from a piece of Tamiya masking sheet, my wife uses this as well.
Blade is now set so it only half cuts through he top layer leaving the sheet underneath untouched.
Made a set of masks for my current Citroen HY van build, there were a set of templates in the instructions.
I had previously traced and cut them out by hand, this was so much easier.
So far so good and looking like it might be a very handy little machine for us both.

I agree with Jim, that looks handy.

If I'd not bought a 3d printer I was going to get the silhouette portrait, which is a very similar machine.
We looked at the silhouette portrait 4, but our old scanner would have probably needed to be replaced too.
Also it wasn't widely available and wondered if spares might be an issue.
Had another go this morning and it all went very well.

Yes, I've not seen the Brother before so that's definitely on my comparison list when the time comes as I like the idea of an all in one solution.
