Hi all
So apologies for not being around much...very little time for some reason - other than show pics - and until last weekend, almost no bench time either!
That said, I have not been quiet on the buying front, so this is a summary of all the acquisitions the past few weeks!
ACW as usual!

Canopy mask pretty obvious (see below Hurricane purchase)....plane markings are for some of my wargaming tanks. One unit I have built some for and actually named them all. You can buy some of the names on AM sheets but not all.
Someone at our club bought the 1/48 Tamiya 1/48 plane power supply and Kettengrad set but only wanted the Kettengrad, so as I have a number of 1/48 German planes I took it off his hands for £0!! Nice score!!!
Should have been about £20 for the pair, but just under £12 thanks to seller's special offers and a £2.50 points voucher I also had. Pretty pleased!
The best Hurricane there is at this scale. Ebay purchase. £20 new…just under £13 delivered in an auction!
Most pleased was I!!
Given how many saw service in the war, this was the one plane at 1/48 I had missing from my stash and the
Airfix one is not great by all accounts.
This run of kits is a brand new 2025 tooling and, by all accounts, is up there with the very best there is in the hobby. You’re normally looking at at least £30…..I got if for £23.54….brand new!
EXTREMELY pleased was I.
There is a bit of a story behind my decision to buy this kit, so bear with me......please.....
This is rebox of the Revell kit (pretty good if not great but with lots of Eduard extras.) This was a show purchase….only £20…out of production now but on eBay at a minimum of £30 and normally north of £40.
The GR1 is a bit of an odd one for me…as you know I don’t do jets.
However, one of our modelling group flew them in the
first Gulf War.
This included in the night time low level raids on the Iraqi airfields right at the start…and four of his squadron never came back. Two were lost in a training accident....two in combat and no idea what happened to them.
Earlier this year he gave our modelling group a 2hr talk on his experiences at the time….and it transpired part way through that he’d NEVER done that before…in any context.
And as soon as I saw the kit at the show I thought about him….and I had an idea to build it for him as a thank you for his talk.
The kit has eight decal options and when I gave him the box at the show, he looked at the side and immediately pointed at three saying he had flown them…and possibly a fourth. And so that sealed the deal and I will doing to do one of them as the thank you for his talk.
