As it was the 70th commemoration of the Dams Raid yesterday I decided to purchase the new tooled 1/72 Airfix Dams Lancaster. Now in the stash but I will look at building this in the near future and mark it as AJ-J the mount of Dave Maltby

I was at the booty today and found a Kitech MiG 31 Foxhound kit and bought it for £4.

I'd never heard of the company before but thought for that price, what the hell.

Anyone heard of them or built something by this maker?

The sprues, detail and surface detail seem OK.

Tony.

They are a Korean company.I know they also do a kit of the helicopter from 'Blue Thunder'.Dont know what their kits are like though

Tony,

I don't have any first hand experience of Kitech kits, I would say though from reviews I've read and word of mouth from other modellers, that they don't have brilliant a reputation, supposedly having poor fit and accuracy,I believe they were made in China and have heard rumours that they are poor copies of Western kits, such as those produced by Hasegawa,Italeari etc. If I remember correctly they preceded other Chinese companies such as Trumpeter.

1/72 Kitech EA-6B Prowler by Zenden Ng

I guess there like any model,a good modeller can turn a rubbish kit into a gem, on the other hand a poor modeller can turn a brilliant kit into junk. After all excellent models can be made out of a pieces of wood assuming the modeller has the skill. You should always bare this in mind when looking at builds I think this might be the first instance.
