I have 6 to go. 3 in the box waiting, 2 more that are mostly complete and 1 that needs some finishing touches. Hopefully today will be a more productive day...
For the last 10 years or so I've kept it to around 20.But this year it's suddenly increased to about 50.I blame my work colleague Bernie passing away,as I ended up buying 30 kits from his widow!.\ said:Are you prepared to divulge how many kits you have in your stash now?
Yes I am joe I like the little kiwi in place of the roundel\ said:Are you going to finish it in the RNZAF markings Alan? It is a nice kit, I have the generic one with RAF and modern day preservation schemes but I will build mine as a NZ version. I have lots of reference links to photos if you need any when the time comes.
Some useful tools there.I particularly like the pick up pencil.Something I need to buy\ said:I have finally got to make use of 3 purchases I made at the RB productions stand at TelfordView attachment 73312
Top is their scriber that works like a file rather than a sharp blade. Very controllable and a good supplement to the blade and pin types of scriber. I only got the blade from RB, John supplied the handle.
Below that is a fine detail brush made by Zuki-Mura (spelling?) that they are not themselves selling into the UK but RB got a supply and, I assume will be making it generally available here. It is without a doubt the best detail brush I have ever tried. It is well made, forms a sharp point and keeps that point and looked after should last a long time. It costs about a fiver, a bit more than most but is worth every penny. I cannot fault it. Simply a superb product to invest in.
Finally - the pencil - well it is not a pencil. It is for picking up and placing very small and light parts that are too small for tweezers. Particularly good for small pe but also good for small plastic parts. I have tried the 'sticky sticks' but I have not really found them that satisfactory and often getting the stick to 'unstick' from the part while leaving the part in place was a challenge. No suich problems with this tool. This tool is just perfect for the job and does not lose any stickiness - it can always be sharpened. The advice on the stand was to sharpen with a knife not a pencil sharpener, something to do with the circular motion of the sharpener not being very good for it. What I did was start off with a pencil sharpener and the finished it with a knife to get the point.
I know John stocks RB stuff - John - if you can source the brush and the 'pencil' too that would be great.... I thoroughly recommend them and will certainly want more of the ZM brushes in future.
I found one of these at my local shop the other day. about 50$, and this picture does not do it justice! It is HUGE!!! And heavy! You're gonna have fun with that!\ said:Got it as last,I still felt like that little kid when I opened the packaging. That's what I enjoy about this hobby, not feeling that I have to be grown up. LOL
I have always wondered why it is that as we grow up, we are expected to stop doing the things that gave us pleasure in our childhood.
HWMBO decided I needed some additional parts for the build.

I've read somewhere that British General Bernard Montgomery found that he rather liked the Fieseler Storch. He had a captured one as his own personal air transport (if that gives you guys who like to put different markings on planes an idea)...\ said:Well just another parcel landed in the shed today. (yes delivered to the shed!!!)View attachment 73362
Its a pain when a mate has a model shop and is having a stock clear out sale to make room for more new stuff!
Often though about the Storch. the ongoing build tipped the balance. And its A GERMAN!!! lol
The Sea Hurricane is one I have been waiting for a sensible price.
