So heres the sprue shots for what im building, 4 large sprues and 1 clear parts sprue, looks to be quite nicely moulded, a tiny bit of flash but nothing to worry about. 20230101_234806.jpg20230101_235140.jpg20230101_235236.jpg20230101_235350.jpg

The hull proved a little fiddly, the upper hull is in two halves which need to be glued to the single piece lower section, theres no locators or any way of clamping or taping anything in place. Best way i could find was to glue the upper hull sections at the front to get a good join, then glue that part to the lower section with ca then work my way to the back bit by bit with ca,seamed to work ok.the deck on next, again gonna take a bit of persuasion lots of glue and a load of masking tape.20230102_004946.jpg20230102_004826.jpg20230102_004920.jpg20230102_015912.jpg

Bet that was fun awkward then Mark. Good going on managing that .

Tricky start mark but your method is the best way of tackling it ,unless youve got six hands ! Looks a great kit , cheers tony

It's an oldie but a goodie Mark. Nice start and a difficulty sorted.
I built this as the Stornoway boat when we lived on the Isle of Lewis.

I well remember the difficult hull construction, but thought it best not to mention it in case you got fryte!

Good to see you sorted it, Mark. :thumb2:

Keep in mind those very fragile hand rails.

I built mine as the Isle of Anglesey, Holyhead boat.

Well wheres the fun in easy Ron lol.
The deck is on and ive built up as much interior as i can and still be able to paint, the rest will be painted and added later after the hull and deck is painted. It will be needing a little bit of filler on one corner but easy enough. There was a locating ring on the deck which had to be removed as its to far back and the part wont fit otherwise.20230102_125924.jpg20230102_134440.jpg20230102_134308.jpg20230102_125949.jpg

Those multi part Hulls are always a challenge. Looks like you sorted it very well..Did you spot weld it with CA and then run poly along the join, or just CA.
If the latter, dont drop it...

Ive run ca pretty much the whole length and then loads TET along the join, itll take a drop kick down my hallway now i reckon .

Your off to a great start. As a non boat builder that did seem a strange way of moulding the hull.

Cheer scottie, the whole kit is like that,no real location points or solid gluing points or places to clamp.

So the cabin is pretty much together, ive decided i know best and ignored the instructions which have you glue the cabin panels one by one to the inner frame already fitted to the deck, ive managed to put it together as a separate piece and with a bit of filing and sanding i can now just slide over the top to fit this is gonna make painting so much easier, again the cabin will need a bit of tidying up but going ok so far.20230102_161324.jpg20230102_161433.jpg

Wow, a day and a half and great progress.
It took me an age to get to this stage and I motor along.....

Good stuff.

Got a bit more done, a few bits of filler sorted and the boats got a bit taller.
The hulls had a coat of mr hobby white for the boot line and the bottom half has then had a coat of mr hobby red gloss, a little touch up of white needed but has came out pretty well on the whole, im gonna stick with mr hobby for the blue going on tomorrow ,what i got is a bit light so ill add some black and thatll be close enough.20230103_234551.jpg20230103_234157.jpg20230103_235125.jpg20230103_235215.jpg

That's come out well Mark, and a with a solid block of red , very nice painting and masking .

Cracking progress Mark :thumb2:

I tried building one of these not long after I returned to the hobby and it was waaay beyond my skill level at the time so it was never finished :disappointed2:

Geoff.
