Yep!

This is the other interesting GB we have on the calendar.

The rule is simple.....if it flies and it spies, it's good :)

If there are some doubts about the subjects or questions, please post all them here.

Aeroflot were well-known for deviating from assigned commercial flightpaths, so one of their cold war era airliners could be a sneaky entry ;)

Only thing I have that may just tentatively fit the bill is a 1/144 Bear though I don't think they spied as such more testing the systems we have in place.

Maritime reconnaissance is spying by another name, especially in wartime IMHO

Shackleton..........................

I have an Orion but not the time unfortunately. Looks to be some interesting types on the boil, will watch with interest.

I hope Polux don't mind me sticking my oar in but I will anyway.

spy if you ask me is a simple way of spelling surveillance, so to expand on the short and snappy description any thing that flies that was built to survey, photograph, detect or watch. This opens things up a bit so to include AWACS, PRUs, reconnaissance drones and the like...

Dont look to promising for dusters Aeroflot idea but it could slide in under the wire. I like sneaky.

so who is going to do a WWI ballon with a guy with a telescope  xD

Ok, I am in on this one.  Hopefully I will finish on time.

Just bought this little lady at my local model shop, not sure which scheme I prefer yet.View attachment 254144

So can we get a definite answer regarding maritime reconnaissance aircraft? Spy planes or not?

TIA

would observation aircraft count?.......im thinking in terms of cessna birddogs and skymasters and the like?

Any aircraft whose primary role is for reconnaissance or gathering information is good - maritime, ELINT, AWACS, photographic, AEW - even a Tornado GR1a fits the bill.

Well j would like to join this if possible. My modern jet ( entry ) is in the garage awaiting mojo to come back. Any way I not long ago watched the" eye in the sky" with Helen Mirren.

Does a reaper count ( drone) spy plane unmanned?

regards
