I wondered if I could have doors that opened and closed on this model as the internals will be very hard to see when built so I had a go to see what I could do. Please bear with me as I am new to this kind of thing.
The parts indicated need to be removed.
Leaving something like this.
The door then needs to be moifield from this.
To this.
I drilled holes in the body and tied the door with very thin wire to hold it.
Once the model is painted you will not notice the wire (I hope)
Eh voila, a door that opens and closes.
The rear doors however will be a nightmare to do so I will perhaps just leave it at that. I know some of you experts out there will have some better ideas, but this was the best I could come up with at the moment.

Nice way to get them to hinge. Not entirely accurate, but few people are going to notice, are they? To be honest I thought you were going to glue a bit of tube on the hull sides whee you cut away the plastic and make a pin to go through that for the doors.
Not really enough material to work with for that method and I am not that worried about accuracy.

I think it is time for some paint before I start assembly.
It has been an interesting kit to build and my first Meng kit but it will not be my last. The quality and finish of parts is really good, only complaint so far is that there are 2 missing internal door handles. I have checked the sprues and the numbers do not add up so this must be a production mistake, no matter as no one will see anyway.

Well, that will learn me to look at an instruction sheet properly. I assumed the internal rear door handles were the same as the outers but having had another look they are not. To be fair, the instruction pictures could be clearer, but I will own up to my mistake and not blame the kit maker.

Today I have mostly been......................fixing a stupid mistake I made. There are 2 options with this vehicle and I decided to build option 2 with the spare wheels in place. Obviously when building the top and bottom halves separately I got it wrong, this was only spotted when I stuck the two parts together.If you look at this picture you will see what I mean.
Some clown built and fitted the large tanks leaving no space for the spare wheel. A lot of time was spent removing the tanks without damaging anything else so lesson learned.............pay attention to what you are doing, I am off now to stand in the corner for an hour as punishment for my sins.

Top work so far Andy!!! We all miss things in the destructions because it is our lot in life with this hobby. Trust me, an hour in the corner helps for about 10 minutes Sir!!! Then you turn the page and start on the next assembly. Oops, there comes the next one...…………...Have fun!!!

This model nearly ended up in the bin, again! Looking through my paint I found a bottle of Vallejo Desert sand which is the colour asked for in the instructions. Model Air,sprays straight from the bottle, that will do for me..............not. Luckily I started on the turret, not good so tried mixing with some flow improver and had another go on the underside, no better just a rubbish finish almost like it was drying too fast. After a night of sulking I thought I would give it one more go with the good old Tamiya XF57 which is the equivalent of the Vallejo colour.
I think that worked out OK, still a bit to do yet, masking film still on the inner windows and a few parts still to go on. Strangely enough, when I was out on the bike today going past Warcop Army training ground there were 4 examples of this very vehicle sitting in the yard just off the main A66 road but there was no point in stopping for a picture as I only had my phone and the camera is rubbish on it, and I may have been arrested as a spy. :anguished:

There are a few tiny decals to put on and a bit of dust pigment here and there.
To be quite honest I have kind of lost interest in it now, it was a good kit to build with plenty of fiddly bits to keep the interest but now it just looks like a box with wheels on. Perhaps I bought it in a moment of madness, usually I buy a model because it really grabs my attention and sticks in my mind, not to worry as there are other boxes under the bench. I also need to learn how to take better pictures of models.
