Hi Everyone,

I work for an app developer and currently my project is working on a Model kit app called PLapp. I'm redesigning and planning additional content for the app. I'm posting here in hopes to receive some feedback from the Scale-Models community, and experienced model-kit builders. Unfortunately my own model kit experience falls short of building a few Gundams when i was younger. I hope it's acceptable to make this post and i would be very appreciative of any feedback that you have about the Plapp. Thanks guys for your time

P.S. We also plan on changing the name lol.

I cant really see the point I'm afraid. Why build a virtual model when you can build a real one... Sorry.

On the plus side ... it looks quite well designed.

I have to agree with Ian though personally.

Looking at the bumf about the app ... In practical use I suppose its nice and gimmicky for younger children to play around with and, you never know, they may get a taste for the real thing.

*edit*

I installed it on my nexus 7 (stock, running jellybean 4.3)

Unfortunately it locked up on the loading screen for the sopworth camel ( even after a restart) so I'm afraid I can't even give a genuine review

It looks nice but does really seem pointless to me if I am honest, downloaded it to iPhone and the instruction pages are tiny. Couldn't zoom in to see them

Just had alook at the app. And I'm sorry but I can't see the attraction of it either.Model making to me is a very tactile thing. Its about using your hands to build something and getting satisfaction from the process. As much as I like computers a model making program can't do that.

Conceptually it's excellent. Perhaps you are asking the wrong people on this forum. When you make the improvements you need to, it will allow people to build kits vitually; especially good for those who have no interest in bulding kits and getting glue on their fingers. All ideas are to be encouraged - go for it and good luck with it.

Thank you all for your insights, and its nice to have a fresh perspective on our app.

Whilst I haven't tried it yet, may I add that building a virtual model may not appeal to most model builders, it would however suit someone who is not able to build a "real" model, I think something like this would be great for our Forces lads and lasses whilst they're serving abroad where they may not have the facilities to be able to take a model and build it...

Hope that makes some sense...

Andy...

I don't understand all the technical jargon being mentioned, but from what I can understand it is a very good idea.

It probably won't appeal to us 'Hand's on' modellers, but there are certain applications where this will be a god's send....Andy's post being a good example.

It would also be of use to those who are unfortunately disabled, but could manage a computer build.

So, far from being negative, I wish you good luck with the development and hope it is a great success.

Ron
