So I have a review/article to write, but I need help with naming some of the engine components. Can anyone help identify the correct description for part 27? I believe part 26 is the exhausts but is there a name for the circular bit that all the pipes come out of? Also, is there a term for the top of the cylinders on part 25? Any help appreciated...

Top of the cylinders bits are probably rocker covers. the star part, part 27 is the push-rod housing/holders. Not sure that it actually has a name though. (so that means that it probably does).

Don

t know of that's any help

Hi mike , to me part 27 looks like the pushrod tubes , on most radial engines theyre in front of the cylinders , and the top of the cylinders is where the valvegear is ,which the pushrods activate , I suppose this would all be called the cylinder head / rocker covers. hope this is of some use (or even correct!!) cheers tony

27: Push rod guides or the actual push rods on older motors.

Top of 25: Rocker covers, sometimes inaccurately called valve covers.

As for the exhausts (26), the exhaust gases leave the engine through one pipe per cylinder and appear to pass into an 'exhaust collector ring', whence they would leave by fewer pipes, often just two. I'm not sure whether the engine modelled really had a collector ring or whether that might be an expedient way of modelling the exhaust pipes.

Cheers
