Ive just completed a new conversion of a Hongwell Cararama Mercedes Actros ladder fire truck and it looks nothing like it did when I started it.

I removed the extending ladder which was a right pain, in the past Ive just had to remove a few screws underneath to remove the base to get to ladder fittings. Not this time some one had decided to change the screw heads and I had to search on the internet for the right bit to change remove the screws, that was only the start some one had over tightened the screws in the first place. I heard the not so helpful crack of the plastic screw housing on 2 of the screws.
Once apart they had also changed the fitting for the ladder assembly instead of plastic clips they had metal ones and someone had put glue on the clips. After several fight s and swear words the clips came away.
I sent the model to a friend who was asked to repaint the model (I will admit I cant paint very well or respray either it would look a dogs dinner) and create some items for the rebuild.
Once fitted together it still looked unfinished, I found some 1/76 chains placed them into 2 containers on the top. but it was still missing something. He produced me 2 smoke extractor fans from a heat pump stl file he had. Then a lighting mast.

The decals were added and is now ready to put in plastic cases for display.

The final reimagining of Captain Scarlet and the mysterons vehicles. I cant find a decent sized spectrum passenger aircraft anywhere all I can find is a very small model.

I showed a small group of modellers the vehicles presented her. Most of them were not happy with the conversions, all of the vehicles altered had issues with them from missing doors, wheels, etc from them.

I made the decision years ago after being misled after buying an Aston Martin DB5 five James Bond vehicle which was sold as an original, with revolving number plates that it was a marriage of parts and the paint had been badly painted. Also a Thunberbird 2 craft which had been painted a blue colour to make it look like a factory mistake. Yes their was a run of faulty thunberbird 2 vehicles being sold in model shops up and down the country. I was in the process of buying one from a small model shop in Redcar I had paid 4 pounds deposit for it and needed to pay it off at 10 shillings a month the total cost was £7.00. The owner was true to his word and kept the model in the back for me. But fate was not on my side I paid another £2.10 shillings before finding out the the owner had passed away and the family sold the business and not being aware of lay aways for customers. The shop closed soon after his death.

There fore, when I have altered a vehicle it is classed as a code three build and not an original.
