Hi all,
Now in retirement have started plastic modelling, having not touched a model kit for a very long time. Started one and made the usual basic mistakes. So, I thought lets get in touch with experienced modellers for tips. So will be asking a few questions to get me back in the groove. Modelling has moved on so much from my younger days and eager to learn.

Hi and welcome mate, Lol, your post pretty much mirrors my first one, when I re-joined the modelling fold about 18 months ago also after retiring, and I'm sure its a similar story for most others too.
Yes, it has moved on, but wow there are some great kits, paints, accessories, etc out there, so enjoy the ride buddy, and ask away if you have any questions, lots of good peeps on here who generally have the answer to most questions and don't mind helping out.
I look forward to reading your posts and see your builds, photos are always good... 8-)

A warm welcome to the forum. Join in and have fun. Any questions - they'll always be someone with a sensible answer.

Think the biggest change I noticed coming back to the hobby after several decades, was the adhesive, Tamiya Extra thin was a total game changer for me, fantastic stuff, no mess, fast acting, etc.

Hello and welcome, much has changed indeed - no more raised panel lines, CA, canopy glue, different paints for brushes, and airbrushing, more types of adhesive than you can shake a stick at, different sanding types and grit levels. And we all have a dodgy kit or three hidden away somewhere! I kept my first because it was terrible, but it serves as a reminder of how much I've improved :)
