Scale Model Shop

Oh dear it's a 1/72 Bristol Beveldere

Never noticed before, but there's no access from the cabin to the cockpit. Hmm, so only intercom to warn the pilots you're on fire!

Miraculous work on that canopy Richard. Superb!
Thanks Tim, much obliged.
Once again, outstanding work Richard.
Thanks again Ian.
I'm complaining about issues in 1/24 scale and you're doing this great work in tiny scale
Mick, you'd be surprised how much you can get away with in smaller scale.
Ditto answer too Jim.:smiling3:
Every bit of this build has just been outstanding. The improved cockpit - just another level entirely.
Thank you Doug.

There is an access through the back of the co-pilots panel. Didn't bother to drill that out. That's why there's a bulge on the left for the passage way past the engine.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing!!!
Ya to keep your mind on flying and not panic.:tears-of-joy:

Cheers,
Wabble

Sorry Richard ,I have been watching from a far literally (see what I did there)but the chaps always express it all any way ,with long builds like this I like to look at the pictures of the finished product then read the whole thing backwards for me anyway you get a much better understanding of what went into the final photos ,l know even the other halfs finally beginning to think I'm a bit damaged. Hey Richard, have you seen this Video of the helicopter?

Westland Promo Video
Sorry for the late replies guys...was celebrating my birthday with an off moment of plastic modeling.
I do that sometimes, reverse reading if the final build impresses me.
Yes I have seen that video, thanks for reminding me 'cos there is a good close up clip of the belly hook assembly which I can scratch from.

Wabble,
Come on, now your just showing off. Brilliant work mate.
Happy birthday for yesterday.
Sorry mate I missed that, Happy birthday for yesterday.
Thanks Guys.
I lost the wheel I had repaired so decided to mold them from putty squished in between reusable molds...

Cleaned the flash and got five usable pieces.

What I like about these new wheels is that they look bulkier than the plastic originals that are rather thin and flat.

Cheers,
Wabble

Look good Richard. I suppose the wheels are more chunky because the two halves of the mold were slightly apart.

Hi Guys,
Today I painted the wheels using the airbrush and circular template 3.5 hole.
20230923_225425.jpg
Easy peesy, just place the template over the wheel after the tyre black has cured and squirt away with light grey. I might just go over with diluted silver to give it a metal look.
With the extra black I prepped the windows and will try to mask the thin rubber lining around it. These were quite prominent on the Belvedere.

If this works then I'll do the same for the cockpit windows. With still some extra paint left I laid a thin coat over the stark white plastic strips used in the modifications just to neutralise the contrast before priming.

Cheers,
Wabble

Sorry guys no updates as I had a long lunch break with my modelling buddies in Klang formerly Port Swettenham. They've got the best Bak Kut Teh(pork stewed in tea herbs) then after that took photos in the parking lot with one of the guys Willys Jeep which he bought and restored.

And engine...although he admits to modifying bits to get it to run better.

Cheers,

Ooh, a 1/1 scale jeep! Can't see any accuracy issues with that kit. Maybe a few build and fit problems tho...

When I'm passing through can I indulge at your table Richard? I'm part of the Salivation Army at the thought! PS Who doesn't love large scale models?

Can't beat sharing a meal for a good time.
Yup, a feel good thing for the tummy too. Inevitably someone will creep to the counter and pay the bill.

Yeah, apparently its a WW2 model with the fuel cap under the drivers seat. Those built after the war had the fuel cap moved to the side near the spade handle.

Sure Steve, if you can recall food here is not expensive. Have you tried Bak Kut Teh before? There are a few versions, this one was served in a claypot with vege, mushrooms and fried tofu. We even had braised pigs trotters. There were side dishes for those who like spare parts.
Large scale yes and only at RM30K.
