hi guys my ? is this over the years we gather loads of models and have our stashes , mine is growing by the week , but what do you do with the old kit boxes , do you keep the artwork or store it in the loft my wife/boss is getting a little peaved at the moment with the boxes sitting around and wants me to ditch them

i keep old sprues in mine and spare bits, squashed the others bound them together with an elastic band

Personally, I throw them Steve. When I was a youngster I used to try to keep the box art work and plans, so I could remember what I had built, but with todays tech I just keep a record on my computer.

I think I would have the same problem with the SWMBO if I kept the old boxes too.

Tony.

boxes in the bin and i keep any spare parts not that i have ever used any of the spare parts and prob never will

Im a hoarder and love keeping the boxes. I bung em under my bed and then store them in the attic. :)

I bin them, although i have kept a few of the bottoms to use as "bits trays" of varying sizes when scratch building stuff.

I do check the box art before i throw it to see if there's anything i can cut out and use (posters, dials, wording etc)

there is a common thread running here in that we as modellers tend to keep things thinking we will use them in the future and we usually dont . i think i will give the records on the pc idea and as some of the box art is very good i may cut the lids off , i can sense another collection starting here lol

all the modles i own are on my laptop because they are all in boxes loft that way i know what box they are in and what i have

I cut up the glossy box lids into 3 inch (ish) squares and use them for paint/glue pallets. The rest i chuck in the recycling bin.

Bin the boxes, cut out the picture from the front and hang em on the wall in the workshop.

Spare bits and some of the chunkier lengths of sprue are in the spares box

Box in box and once a month the go for recycling. A few of the stronger ones have parts in. Small boxes the typically come with resin bits in get saved for posting things in.

I tend to (recycle) bin mine to. It does seem a shame as some of the artwork is wonderful but realistically, where would I put them.......

In the recycling bin with the old boxes and the spare parts in my old spares box.

Am I the only one that is loath to throw boxes away then :-(

I think it may be that you build yours so fast you don't need the storage space for your stash like the rest of us! :lol
