I chose to break out an oldie but goodie that I have had in my stash for many many many ,,,,yes many ..years now and decided to “bling“ it up a little since this kit has had numerous updates through Tamiya over the years. This is the very old motorized Tiger I tank as the base model.. with some PE, some home made zimmerrit, various scratch built items. Currently working on tracks. Here are some pics of the completed tank..primed and ready for some paint..And the bits and pieces of the tracks that need some cleanup before assembly.

The tracks are a bit more fiddly than what I had anticipated but I want to push on and do not want to use the kit supplied ones that lack sufficient detail.AA5BF8F2-B87E-4365-8608-4241FC2A465E.jpegE83B6E8F-1392-4791-9416-DE644819058A.jpeg1908BF71-5D49-47FE-A42C-37A6B602012C.jpegBBC9822C-F011-42D4-A017-A32D4E15E34E.jpegCBD387B7-259D-40AD-8C75-1F3E64418BF9.jpegFD2359B9-EF6E-4E3B-A56B-87A2740A92A3.jpeg

Hi Joe,

I take it this is the one you mentioned a while back

Love the box proudly announcing "it's motorized!" like that's a good thing :smiling5:

Have you offset the gun or left it as the kit?

Hi Joe

Great to see you have been busy at the bench. You've done a great job with the Zim. Looking forward to seeing the wet stuff. Doing a base and figures??

Keep it in the short stuff mate

Simon, yep..tis the one indeed that I mentioned on your thread.. I did get a turned metal barrel and new resin Mantlet to add to the bling but did nothing more than that..

Peter,thanks..yes it’s been a bit while finding time to actually do some of this build..very slow progress for sure

Jakko,, wish it were that easy for sure

Steve, yes will probably put it on a base with a few figures..suggestions ?? And I always plan to keep that little white ball in the short grass but somehow my swing doesn’t always follow the plan

Finally had the chance to hit this with the hissy stick..added some chipping and first wash of dark brown to bring out some detail.

I do have to say that the wheels were very problematic in assembly and then painting as well. The plastic was very soft and would not take even primer at first… Perhaps it was the age of the kit and technology at that time for injected plastic.CF7DD3F6-EB62-4CA2-9EC4-920257721133.jpeg

Hi Joe, always good to see your work, couldn't open that attachment 395485 unfortunately.
Great job on the exhaust shields, and agree with my learned friend Steve on the ZIM.:thumb2::thumb2::thumb2:

Thanks Monica,,, it was definitely some trial and error at my first attempt on the zim...ended up using an acrylic wood filler that was thinned down and patterned using a Tamiya zim tool that I found on eBay. I liked the way it sort of broke off in some areas to Give the look of damaged zim.

Joe, that's a beaut of a zim and paint finish on your tiger.

Cheers,
Richard

Finally had a chance to install the tracks and oh boy did they test my patience i’ve added some additional pigments and streaking as well as had a chance to paint some figures that will company the tiger. Also was experimenting with a old damaged jeep trying to flatten the tires as it will become part of the small scene with the tiger and troops
