The main overall colour has been airbrushed on, gradually building up the layers until the desired effect is reached. Hopefully you can see the effect of tri-colour and black panel line pre-shading has had. I think it has to be subtle, almost so that the uninitiated observer can tell that something clever has been done - but cannot quite put thier finger on it.

Hi Guys
I hope you had a great christmas and got lots of modelling related gifts. I was presented with a Dremel 4000 kit from the better half
Anyway, things have moved on somewhat with the Corsair build, the main paint and weathering has been finished.
A light coloured wash has highlighted the panel lines, and jusdicious use of silver and steel pencils gives a variation of age for the chipping.
I bought this kit used from ebay. Unfortunately, the decals had at some time got damp and had wrinkled. They just fell to pieces if treated at all roughly. The black strips on the wings were airbrushed on as the decals were in poor condition. The decal supplied for the cowling tape wasn't used, instead I cut some very thin strips of white paper and arranged them around the panel joins. I deliberately left some pieces torn and missing to give the impression that they had come off in the airflow. To give the dirtly oil leaks some realistic streaming over the fuselage, I put a time drop of thinned Tamiya Smoke paint on the cowling, and then used air from the airbrush to blow it about and hopefully give it a more realistic look that you could achieve buy hand painting or airbrushin the oil leaks on. Lots of ail drops and plenty of blowing them about gave me what I wanted.
The wing walk areas were given a dose of footprint dust with Tamiya weatherin master pigments. I have tried to make the weathering as realistic as possible, referring to images from actual aircraft. Of course this is all very subjective.
That's it for now, I have been nursing a chest infection, so working on the models would only result in extra unwanted weathering effects!

I have finally been feeling better during this worldwide outbreak of man flu, and got around to finishing the corsair.
This has again taught me a lot, working with a single dark colour and painting figures to name a couple. I have modified a few items, such as taking out the 'webbing' in the open engine cowlings.
The pilot has been rested on the wing with white tack, as I am not sure whether to use him yet, I would welcome your thoughts. Indeed, any comments are welcome on the build.

YUP! that passes absolutely stunning aircraft and paint job,the pilot looks good also.I would give you 5*s,the canopy looks nice also good lines

A truely stunning build Graham great tones with the one colour and the weathering just spot on. A very nicely painted figure but to me looks just out of place stood on the wing like that and in that pose ( hope you don't take offence ) A 5 star build all the way
A fantastic build Graham with some beautiful weathering. The only thing that I would say is the location of the aerial wire, I've not seen that configuration before. Usually the wire runs from the rudder anchorage point to the fuselage just to the right of the ariel mast but maybe this particular version had this setup.
