Nice one Ian , tying in with this years 50th anniversary of the lunar landing i imagine . Didnt fancy the revell 1/96 scale one then? its a beast at nearly four foot , but its also a beast of a price , about £70! Hard to believe that fifty years ago we put a man on the moon and concorde first flew , the future must have seemed like it was going to be incredible , and here we are now - no ones been to the moon since and supersonic airliners are a thing of the past , progress? cheers tony

Hi Rick it’s going to be a stand alone build, but in sections so the kids can see what the boosters and modules look like, and I will add a little more detail to the rocket boosters.
Got a few bits done.
I echo Rick. Ian I have a the old Revell U.S. Army Redstone that’s been idling since 1995. You got me thinking about finishing it.

Been working on the second stage parts, think I need to modify the rocket booster for this stage, as the parts don’t look anything like they should

Progress isn’t only doing things that nobody ever did before, it’s also realising that some of the things you have been doing aren’t necessary. It's much more efficient for just about every use-case (except speedy arrival) to transport 500 passengers at 1000 km/h than 100 passengers at 2500 km/h, for example. The benefits simply don’t weigh up against the costs. Much the same applies to going to the moon: what is the need to do so? If there is one that doesn’t have a simpler or cheaper earth-bound solution, sure, people will be going back to the moon. Until then, though, there’s nothing to be gained by going there. (In the 60s it was done for one reason only: one-upmanship.)
But at least we’ve got the models as a result of these things, even if they need a lot of work to detail them — but that gives us modellers something to do, doesn’t it?
