Hi guys

My contribution to the WW1 GB is a bust of TE Lawrence, Lawrence of Arabia. I have been scouting the www and some reference books and the majority photos of him are either army uniform of Arab dress but /i have found a few of him in uniform with the Arab headdress. I think this is the look I will go for since it visually combines the two worlds he straddled.

This is quite a clear photo which is going to be my main reference:

Ooooh, nice! Eric Kennington's portraits would probably be helpful here Peter. This will be good.

Peter - it I pull this one off well enough it may well be heading your way to paint. Fingers' crossed.

Well I have no doubt that the two Peters collaboration will produce a stunning tribute to TE.

Great start Peter, so jealous of all the skills on show from everyone, never ceases to amaze.

His arab robes are nice to see. Nice suggestion about Auda, definately one to think seriously about.

A little more work to the head, not finished and more work needed but some progress

Coming along nicely. What was distinctive about Lawrence, apart from the piercing blue eyes that everyone mentions, was the straight, overhanging brow and the double bow-shaped upper lip.

Peter

my first attempt at his brow made the head look a little neanderthal. I think I may put it aside until the weekend, so that I am looking at it with fresher eyes. At least the GB continues until November so I have lots of time to re-sculpt him!

If I tried anything like this Peter, it would end up looking worse than the figure I got with my Smer Airco dh2 kit. Fantastic work so far

Looks very nice so far Peter:thumb2:, as I have no skill with sculpting figs too I'm following your work with great interest.

Nice progress shot Peter. What do you sculpt with that allows you to make changes days after the event??

Steve - i am back to using MagicSculpt. It can be smoothed when wet using a paintbrush and water. When it has cured it is had which can then be sanded, scraped back or even bits carved off.

I'll watch quietly in the back ground Peter, and hopefully learn a bit about the esoteric art of figures.

Hi Peter I watch quietly with Colin, good luck with the rest of the build.
Pete.
