Well having finished my Spit, time to start on this one.

It seems to have a lot less parts than the Spitfire, just 2 grey sprues plus a clear sprue.

Just be careful of the engine mounting and covers. If you don't get it right then you'll have no end of problems. But....

Haven't done much except for sorting out the parts that need to be in RLM66. My Vallejo RLM66 was standing for a long time, and is taking a lot of shaking to get it to mix. :disappointed2:

I did get some paint on some of the parts, and even get some PE glued on today though. A dry fit of the fuselage halves + cockpit tub + engine:
View attachment 320476 That looks as if it'll be OK. Then to the start on the PE. I was talking to someone recently who recommended Gorilla Glue Clear for PE, an I saw some for sale on Friday so thought I'd give it a try. It has a good initial 'tack', but doesn't really grip the parts together, if that makes sense? That is, the glue grabs the PE, but then lets it move around to an alarming extent. I think I'll go back to CA or Gator's Grip. Here's the result of the first few parts:

Glad I had the foresight to leave the rudder pedals attached to the fret while I bent up the heelrest and threaded the foot strap through the buckle:

They've had a touch of RLM66 on the pedals and leather brown on the straps. Should be able to get the fuselage together tomorrow.

Yes, I agree on both points Alan, one of them has already escaped!
A little more done today, the fuselage is glued at the rear, the engine is just held in by the rubber band here to act as a spacer:

I'll need to spring the fuse halves apart a little to get two more parts in between them, so I'm leaving it to set overnight. One of those two parts is the upper IP, shown on the white tak above. What are the chances of that gunsight staying on...?
I've also started on the wing by gluing in a rib that forms the back of the u/c bay. I might regret that later as it fixes the dihedral. The wing moulding wanted to take a different angle to that rib, so I've had to glue it progressively. Fingers crossed!

It looks like you don't have to build the whole engine like you do on the 1/48 kits. If that is the case then please disregard my point about ensuring the engine build and mounting is done really well. I got it wrong on the 1/48 kit and boy did i pay for it later on lol
