Pit Road are a Japanese manufacturer of 1/700 ' SkyWave ' waterline warships - their models have been reboxed by several other Japanese makers - but this one only seems to have been sold by Pit Road ( under several class names ). I wanted the Mutsuki, because of the configuration - with the torpedo tubes in front of the bridge, different to most other destroyers...............

This is a generic sprue, with armament & fitting for most Japanese destroyers not many parts will be used!

Several name options - I think!

Looks clear enough, but some options will need careful study
The sprues are clean & crisp, minimal flash, with small parts, ingates are always a problem - careful removal & clean up needed.

Steel rule has mm markings - so pretty small parts - it's noticeable that the Mutsuki specific sprue is crisper than the generic one.
It's a bit of a niche market, 1/700 waterline warships, but Pit Road are at the top of the pile! There are a number of PE sets for Japanese destroyers available, but few places stock them
This model seems to be a Japanese version, imported - there is minimal English.
Availability? None that I could find in the UK - but Japanese retailers show them in stock at around £11, but obviously p&p will be expensive. I got mine off ebay for £14 delivered, from a private seller.

Looks pretty good Dave, and it’s certainly an interesting subject. However, the tread plate seems a bit heavy for 1/700? is that just the way the light has caught it?

It's pretty heavy, but at such a high magnification, it probably looks worse than it is, I do attempt to take pictures at an oblique angle, to show up the fine lines & detail

Well I have a Hasegawa Mutsuki but not a reboxed Pitroad or Skywave kit. The box is in bad shape but contents are okay and definitely doesn't have the details like the Pitroad kit.

Cheers,
Richard

Pitroad tread patterns are on the heavy side but when painted up looks good. We don't actually get up that close anyway.

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Dave
I rather like the look of that despite the issues with over heavy details. Certainly a lot of instruction in that second instruction sheet.
