Due to the sudden influx of about 100 (!) new members, I will try to clear up on posting pictures in your thread right from the top:
forget all the buttons at the top of the text box, the part you type the message in, it only confuses the matter.
On the left, below the text box is a button 'Attach files' click that and a new window opens. Mine opens the with my photo directory on my pc. You might have to navigate to the place your photos are kept on your pc. So, in the directory that opens in the window, highlight the picture or pictures that you wish to have in the thread then click the 'open' option. The pictures will up load to the forum and appear below the text box.
In the image box that appears, you have a couple of options, I fear that it is here things go wrong for new members ( and a few of the old boys).

At the very top of the picture box you have a line that says 'Insert all' and two buttons; ' Thumbnail / Full image' If you just want to dump all the photos on the list click one of those options. I recommend the full image. What ever. Either click that button and the photos will be placed in the text box where the cursor (that little flashing bar that shows where you are typing) is. You only need to click this button once.
OR
you can choose which image you want to place and where to place is by clicking on the 'Thumbnail/full image' button directly beside the image you want in the image box. (Very handy for inserting a photo in the text. I often up load the photos, write the post and then insert the photos after). Again click the button only once.
If you have uploaded more photos than you needed in the post, you can simply delete the unused pictures using the button at the right of the list. If not deleted, they will appear as thumbnails at the bottom of the post.
Also worthy of note is if you click on all the buttons they will all work and there will be pictures all over the place lol - So don't do that.
I hope that this is of some help and has not caused more confusion.

From an iPad it is very easy.

Click attach files and choose which location to upload from.

Then choose which photos from whatever location you want, a small window will open in the bottom left of your screen, the photo will have a tick in the corner, click done and they will upload.

Add your words, review, correct then click post reply.

Adding photos from an iPhone is just as simple.

Very easy.

Hope you find this useful.

Just wanted to add, if you have already uploaded your pics to Flikr (or whatever else you used to replace photobucket) you can still insert photos with the [ url ] & [ /url ] tags (take out the spaces though, only added to this post as the forum thought I was trying to insert a pic :smiling:).

Thanks for that! As a newbie, you think you understand it, but it's nice to be confirmed.
What is the best size for posting, say a full image - and are there any limitations on size?
Cheers
Dave

I found that it only lets you upload 20 pictures to a post - more than that and they get blanked out

Anyone know if the number of pictures is related to the size of the files or is 20 the max regardless of file size?

(I always resize my upload pics to 1024 wide)

Thanks Ian,
I wasn't sure how to select between thumb nails and full image as I seemed to get both when I posted.

The 20 pics per post is regardless of size. The upload system, I believe, resizes pictures that are to large (pixel wise) to the max allowed. However, if your picture is to large Mb wise it will just tell you the file size is to large.
I will just need to find the limits for you... Hmm

Thanks Ian - I normally just batch resize my upload pics to 1024x768 as a good compromise between file size, pic quality and upload speed so shouldn't exceed any file limits

So did I Dave, already posted a few hundred pics - it's a doddle compared to the clunky old system on MM. I just wanted clarification on the number per post. Good to see you BTW :thumb2:

Simples.
Agree with Simon , having to upload all the photos in batches of 5. Then do a post, add photos etc.
This method is brilliant.

I had a go at using Britmodeller a few years ago and just could not be bothered with having to create a photo hosting site account so I could post pictures on their website - SMF is so much easier.

Rick,
Your right, when I first came back to modelling in 2015 some forums were so off putting because of the complex systems they had for uploading.
MM was as I said. Here SM is a dream to use .
John.

since i post on 3 forums i tend to use a pic host such as tinypic or imgur, write out my whole post with code for the pics in word, then copy n paste on each forum

Like wise Simon I am also floating about on the other MM site another very friendly site road of bones and some of the other usual suspects as well Dave.
