For small stuff you need a small aperture (High F number) to get depth of field and low ISO number. This means tripod and remote release (or self timer) to prevent shake. Only other bit of advice I can give is to get the viewpoint down to the figures eye level. That adds more to realism than anything else....Ron is a master at it...look at his stuff to see what I mean...

Some more progress today. Am doing the deepest shading now, so that's the final stage before highlights.
Will push on over the weekend then try and get some photos up.
HAPPY FRIDAY, everyone.

Gorgeous! (the figure, not you, though I'm sure you're lovely too!). Ooops, feeling giddy - varnish fumes....

There's a reason my avi is a Tigers logo and not a photo...

Hi Dave
I reckon he is looking superb. The small scale makes it even more impressive.

Thanks, Both.
Highlights started at lunchtime today. It's a slow progress (no change there) of gradually building up tones of dry-brushing.
Jacket & kilt (latter was a swine), Phase One...

Lovin this figure a lot Dave. Terrific update and it really shows how much detail you are putting in. Keep it comin mate:thumb2::thumb2:

And that's that.
I'm not sure about the magnification of these photos; they show a few imperfections up on a 1/35th fig.
Having said that, it's been a real pleasure and although I NEVER want to go near tartan again, there'll definitely be more red coated Brits in my diary.
The chest ribbon is the Crimea medal - so this lad would've been a drummer boy in that conflict. Who cares? It's near enough.
That's the end of the year's figure modelling; aircraft next.
(I still ain't convinced about resin figures)

Hi Dave
Both figures are superb. Bet you'll do more tartan when you recover. You're good at it.
