Having spent a fair while searching the web for WW2 RAAF figures in 1/48 scale and coming up blank does anyone know of a source of them.

World War II, 1939-1945. Seven figures & a dog are included in this set – four pilots and three mechanics and an Irish Setter breed dog. One pilot is in flying suit with parachute, three pilots are in dress uniform (one in a lifejacket).

They are a good company, very helpful and very reasonable, i have had a lot from them in the past regarding materials.

They are a good set of figures, I have them as well and they are well moulded and good clear detail.

This is a well travelled set as well, ICM made them, they turn up in a Revell boxing. Tamiya have them also in one of their sets.

Eduard do two sets for the RAF, one with pilots the other with ground crew. cant comment on them though as I have not bought them.....yet.

If you go to your local hobbycraft shop (i think your nearest is Leeds), the RAF revell figures are £4.99 at the mo in a sale, the Luftwaffe set is £2.99 at the mo too is anyone else is interested.

Ive just had a quick google (oo er missus!!) and i reckon you would get away with using the RAF figures john, There doesnt seem to be much difference between our blokes and the aussies (at least in a black and white pic anyway) Are you going to pose them with an aircraft ? i'm rather into australian stuff at the moment. cheers tony

Hi folks

Thanks for the advice BUT and it's a big but, probably should have explained myself more clearly, currently building Special Hobbies CAC Boomerang the one that requires a hefty wedge of plasticard between the two fuselage halves to square everything up. Am thinking of posing it in a diorama with a Miskin blister hanger and perhaps some PSP runway though I have no evidence of the latter being used in the Pacific Theartre New Guinea and such places were they operated in the ground support role. Now comes the BUT!. Uniform of the day in such places was shirt sleeves and shorts and I am not sure I am capable of turning trousers into shorts sock and nobly knees, any further advice would be appreciated.

maybe some squaddie figures (africa based) then change the heads and see if you can improvise the torso a bit ... there's quite a few figures to chose from if you go this route.

In fact i may have some unused "legs" knocking around that have shorts on, just a matter of a postage stamp if you wanna try 'em

just had a sort through, all the "shorts" bearing legs are 1/35th, thought there were some 48ths (or equivelent size in older stuff) sorry mate!

Hi john , I'm doing a boomer at the moment too, but its the airfix 1/72. Have a look at this link , its the tamiya 1/48 africa corps infantry , theres 4 figures (out of the 8) in shorts ,in various poses and i think a few accessories such as boxes , oil drums , tent etc. I reckon this is as close as youre going to get , maybe with a bit of alteration these chaps could be made to look aussie? Tamiya Africa Corps Infantry Set 32561 on eBay! cheers tony

I bought a collection at the end of last year.

One type, cannot remember the name as I chucked it in the dustbin, a manufacturer in France. Brown plastic which peeled & the figures had a base plate. Beware awful.

Cannot remember Aaron. But you cannot miss it horrible light fawn plastic. Difficult to glue & paint.

Had trestles & step ladder. Very poor design. Some of the components were so fine as to be impracticable

Handy idea there Tony, I forgot about Tamiya 1:48 sets. I love the idea of afvs figs and aircraft all in the same scale.

Apparently 1:32 is accecptable to be displayed with 1:35. Great if yes.

Hi folks the Africa corps chaps have been ordered so it looks like heads will roll.By the way Tony sitha have you visited aussiemoddler.com there is a run through of a Boomer rebuild with some good colour detail, for reference from it I discovered that the wheel wells are painted chrome yellow I painted mine chrome green oh well! I assume you have seen the youttube footage of a boomer in flight angry sounding little rascal.
