RAF Phantom FGR2 - intake colour?

Hi all;

I'm doing the Revell/Hasegawa 1/48 RAF Phantom FGR2, and am wondering about the colour inside the air intakes. The instructions call for white, but I don't recall seeing this on RAF F-4s - is it right? The one I'm doing will be grey/green camo from the early 1970s.

White would be nice! Some aircraft had the first couple of inches of the lip grey, but I mean that most had white.

We have a special interest build running at the moment. Have a look in there, there are loads of good info on Phantoms in there.

I am Dave - my old Sqn. Part of my ongoing and lengthy project to build all of 41's aircraft in 1/48 scale! I have the Almark decal sheet for this one.
 
When were you on 41?.I was a Junior Tech at Coningsby in ASF from 1976 to 1982.Was then posted to 4sqdn Phantom majors at StAthan.

That was a bit before my time, Dave! I was on 41 at Coltishall with Jaguars 1991-94.
