Due to several companies getting into bed with each other, I thought it Might be an idea with a thread where we can post a "Heads up" about reboxed kits.

First comments are that Tamiya are flirting with Italeri and that Revell are more than just friends with Hasegawa. ICM are playing the field and have slipped a few of their figure sets around, Tamiya and Revell have used them in their boxing as well.

What does all this mean to us the humble end user? Money! Or Saving Money.

A couple of the ones that are nearest my feeble memory are good kits which are money savers. Hasegawa's 1/48 Harrier Gr7/9 which cost a fortune, is the same kit that is in the Revell box at UNDER half of Hasegawa's price. The same goes for the "new" Starfighter tiger meet from Revell, this to was a Hasegawa kit.

Now a Ju 87 stuka. Same kit even same decals, two boxes, one says Tamiya the other Italeri. Which one do you think is the cheapest.

Well I hope that you all get the idea, and if you discover some thing that was made by X and is now in a box marked Z, drop a comment in this thread.

We all like kits, we all love cheaper ones.

The Revell Jaguar GR1 was a Tamiya and also an Italeri kit. So really no point in buying the old 'expensive' Tamiya kit.

The 1/72 Revell Jag GR1 (04351) and Tamiya Jag GR1 (60734) are re-boxings from Italeri

The only 1/48 Jag GR1 kit that i know of is an Airfix kit no.7104

The 1/48 revell aichi 'val' is the hasegawa mould but half the price, the airfix 1/72 meteor f8 is the excellent mpm (also xtrakit) moulding but again , alot cheaper, the airfix 1/72 sea fury is the very simplified PM kits mould, and most of the alanger/icm/signum 1/48 yaks and mig 3's are all the same kits. tony

Not really new information on who makes/boxes who's kits, but I did notice that on a few of the recent Italeri/Tamiya aircraft collaborations, the new boxings include a pilot figure. That's nice to see, but what is even nicer is that the figure is in white metal so it also acts as a nose weight for tail sitters!

I guess that most of us want to show off the cockpit if we put an airplane on the ground, so we'd still need to find weights as we wouldn't use the pilot figure; but it's certainly a step in the right direction from the kit makers. At least you now have more choice and there's nowt stopping you using the pilot in another kit.

Good for Italeri/Tamiya!

PS I thought this was a 'sticky' thread so we could always see the link. If it hadn't been posted in the last 24 hours, I would not have been able to find it. Is there a direct link to the 'sticky' threads I've missed?

Does anyone know whether the Hassegawa 1/72 Mosquito Mk IV/VI has been reboxed by another company?

Andy. I can only find the Hasegawa B IV kit (51217 - CP17) and if that is the kit you are on about then it is their own mould

Is it available anywhere for less than a king's ransom? I could only find it in a shop in the US or on ebay for silly money

It's not vital, it's just that someone gave me a resin detail set for it that's been sitting around for months
