Re-vamped room which was in a mess with bits added and extended.

Main idea was to make things easier especially keeping tidy and all tools in hands distance and easy to get at. Plus extra space for models.

On the tidy/ to hand distance I put many items on a turntable which gives easy access and making more items in distance. Also introduced pull out trays keeping all to hand, tidy and in order.

Very nice Laurie. Extremely jealous!!!!

Mostly because of that Westland Lysander I can see in your pics....!!!!! :D ;) :)

That's really nice Laurie! A good mix of the functional with the artistic inspiration of your previous builds on show.

I'm not jealous at all. ... :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thanks all. The giving of friendly hearts is most definitely platonic and not to be construed in any other way o_O

Excellent, I like the idea of the background on the wall and the way you have set up the shelving for display. I have more than enough modelling space - but funny how no matter how much you have, you can still fill it but shelving is my next task and I think you have given me some ideas.

Just out of interest, why have you got those white squares underneath the top shelf? is that to better reflect the lighting?

Hi Neil. Originally I had white Conti board which looked awful. So the new shelves are oak finish. Not real just conti board style (unless you get close it looks like real veneer). This looks very nice but I wanted a contrast between the hanging aircraft mostly darkish in colour and the u/s of the conti boardabove the aircraft. Also wanted to break up the long shelf look by sectionalizing into a space for each aircraft.. Also helps as you mention with lighting.

The boards are thick card and each card is mounted on a 5mm backing board (recessed back from the board edge ie you cannot see the backing board. This to give a 3d effect as the arrangement gives a nice shadow line around the edges.

All takes a lot of time.

Exellent area Laurie, I really like the tool drawers, fantastic idea with everything to hand but neatly tucked away keeping your work area tidy. The displays are superb and provide food for thought and inspiration during those 'pensive' moments!

I get accused of OCD but I think you are neater and tidier than me. A man after my own heart.

Great area Laurie, particularly like the tool trays that is a brilliant idea.

On the trays they are cheap. The slides were below £3 per set. The tray a bit of conti board. Plus a bit of 2" by !" timber support for fixing to the u/s bench then the slides are fixed to the 2" by 1".

Even a model maker could construct these

Love your workshop. Also very envious. The pull out trays look very operating theatre like. Must be great to have everything at hand intead of rummaging about for stuff like me (limited space). :) :( :)

Wonderful, Laurie. I can see you like to be well organised! It's good to see the completed builds there too - that's one nice Swordfish diorama. I also enjoyed Moni's very 'artistic' take on the workspace too - we're all different:)

Beautiful work space, super organized. Looks ready to build models OR perform an autopsy:)

I really like how you made use of the turntables.

Robert:)
