discussion Red Arrows ‘What if’ EE Lightning. Airfix 1/48th.

Not a build from the newly released Lightning, build a few years ago on a whim as I was bored with ‘grey’ jets, markings are masked and painted in the main, with a few of the kit decals used. Xtracolor Red Arrows Red.

WOWEE Famerboy two fantastic models together im over whelmed as both planes look spot on an i'll say this you sir are a 100 % better modeler than me i could never make them that good pity my dad was not still alive as he used to be the heavy duty crane driver up at RAF COLTISHAL an i was with him in the botom of the controll tower when the big 16 lightnigs done a display an funny enough back then he happen to remark pity they were not done in red arrows colours as then they were flying the folland knagts
but fansatic model an love the phantom as well very very well done sir

NOT just 9 they used to fly the big 16 aircraft an i watched many a show with them in it

thanks for your kind comments Chris, they were a lot of fun to build, I’ve been doing modelling for a very long time so to call myself ‘boy’ is a bit of a fib!!
I make some real rubbish models but sometimes I get one right!!!

WELL Geoff you ought to have heard the big 16 lighting display wow eps comin out from a bomburst an i consider my self very lucky to have seen their displays up at battle of britain airshow at RAF COLTISHALL in the early 70 /s an the solo lightning display of flight lietentant bob lightfoot an wow he threw that plane around the sky as i see the last display he did before he hung up his boots

Well, the Firebirds flew Lightnings as a display team, the year before the Red Arrows were even formed, so why not?

Methinks a Red Arrows Hunter would look rather pretty too. Or a Buccaneer...

well Steve i never see these firebirds as far as i can remember an how many lightnigs in the display team ? an yes ive seen a hunter sprayed in all red but just one as that time he was with the display team hunters called the black arrow s then they switched to the blue diamonds team oh there was so much goin on in them days an exciting compared now to the crap time now an coltishall is now a prison oh dear what horrible times we live in now
