Just got the kit... I'm kind of dissipated with the quality and detail of the parts. The panel lines are all raised, there is a lot of flash everywhere, and there is a very small amount of interior detail. But I can't really complain because this kit costs only 30$. The most annoying thing is the instructions, they don't show which way a part goes, sometimes it shows the shape of a part that does not exist, and are overall not informative enough.

The whole engine is only made from 4 parts that have a LOT of flash on them

You made a good job on the engines. Four parts and a good paint gob can be just as effective as loads of parts and a so-so paint job.

As Allyne said it is an old kit but builds well. I am sure you will do it justice.

And I love what you've done with the Engines, they are thing of absolutely beauty!

I built this kit when I was a teenager in the early 1970's.Back then it was sold as an all black night fighter version.The engine looks good considering the age of the kit.And that looks like a nice decal sheet.Much better than the original issue.

building the exact same kit right now, the cockpit instructions are a bit confusing as the pictures dont match the parts.

The problems start here. Once the wings were attached, massive gaps formed. The same happened at the place where the lower central wing assembly met the fuselage. I applied milliput to all the gaps and sanded them down the best I could. The rear wings and rudder went on fine without any major problems. I then airbrushed some akan intermedia blue on the milliput to see how it turned out. It is still quite rough so I may have to sand down a little bit more. R.I.P. praised detail and panel lines

Early Revell can be a bit lacking in detail, but at 1:32 you can do so much yourself.

I apologise for not posting for a whole week about this build, it is going quite slowly. I finally got my flat black tamiya paint in the mail so I finished the engine and prop assembly and started working on the landing gears.

Does anyone know what tamiya colour should I use for the top dark blue/grey and bottom grey/green? I have some pictures of the camouflage I would like to achieve below:

have you thought of buying a circle stencil from a stationers mate, save yourself from trying to mask the wheels, spray the whole thing rubber colour then when dry find the nearest size circle to your rim.place over the rim and then spray your rim colour, dead quick and easy..just thought about it when i saw the picture of all the small bits of tape around your wheel. alternatively you can get a compass cutter and cut circles in your masking tape to the correct size.
