This was also in the package that Peter G sent with his SS bust - a 1/10 rendition of an RFC balloon observer, WW1. Peter had quietly worked away on this one and kept it to himself.

Our man is wearing a harness with ropes, which could be hooked onto a parachute stowed on the outside of the basket should the Fokkers come calling. He also has earphones and a mouthpiece for communicating with the ground. The kit comes in five pieces - head, torso, mouthpiece, cap visor and stand - and the wire for the communication gear is included.

An unusual and fun subject to paint.

Nice job on this one, metals are exceptional as always. Funny how photographs change perspective though, the first image looks like an exceptionally well painted flat figure..
Cheers

Don't say it looks flat Tim! See what you mean though:smiling:.

Not saying it is flat, or even that it looks flat, just that it looks like youve made a flat object look 3D by clever use of highlights, even though I know you haven’t .....
I think I’ll stop digging now, cos this seems to be getting away from me LOL

Hi John and thanks.

When I'm doing commissioned work I feel beholden to get it done as quickly as possible - time is money etc.

Peter.
I can understand that. When I was working I disliked doing jobs for home, always prefered to do those jobs that bought the money in.
Sort of gave you the incentive .
John.

Hi John - Well it's Peter G who needs to get some return - it's an expensive business producing busts. The sooner he can get the busts up onto his website, the sooner he can make sales. I do the easy bit.

Morning Peter

Easy bit?

Don't think so, the sculpture is superb too, can't wait for the SS dress officer.

The blog was so quick to a finished piece, I guess its giving you some interesting challenges with the white?

Back to the Balloon Officer.

Its already been said, another quick, quality finish, on a wonderful sculpt.

Another mini heat wave due, for of all things a bank Holiday, that would be an unusual event in the UK!

Have a good day with the paint and the SS officer

Regards

Thanks Steve - Yes, Peter's working on another ECW figure - in action this time. He says he's planning to slow down, but the idea was always to do one or two a month.

Hi Peter.
Cor what a treat for the eyes.Magnificent finish on this.Personally i think this chap and the SS officer are the best of the range.Really well sculpted by Peter.I hope Peter does well at Euro.Hes put a lot of work in and theres a place for little companies along with the big guns.
Good on you both.

Glad you like him Richard. Peter's done a great job with this sculpt - it was great fun to paint.

Great looking bust Peter:thumb2:, the shadows and highlights on the skin bring much life to the chap.:smiling:

Hi Guys

Just got back from a couple of days in St Malo (far too much food!) and I'm catching up on all of the great posts.

Peter has done a great job with this one - as always - and l'm glad he enjoyed painting it. Often speed is the enemy of quality but Peter loses no quality whatever speed he paints. I am going to continue my thread of the SS officer tomorrow, but am feeling a bit daunted by Peter's work!

Thanks for all of the compliments on the sculpting.

Peter
