Okay, puttyied the front portion with the scoop. Will let it cure before drilling the aperture. Thought of forming the aperture with card or thick foil but decided this was easier. Only thing now is to get the taste of the putty off my tongue having moistened the tooth pick while sculpting. A petri dish of water can be a substitute but I'm doing it the Bill Horans way.😄

While the front was curing I added the hinged lid to the back...
IMG_20241114_123548.jpg At this angle you can see the excess putty I have left on the scoop for sanding off. It is always better to have slightly more than an exact amount of putty shaped for sanding to shape. This way I can get the shape right.

Thanks Steven, Scottie and Flyjoe.
Hopefully it will look just as good as the original part.

Today I just drilled three holes to begin the process of sculpting the air scoop opening. With a burr I will enlarge the aperture by removing the access between the three holes and carefully working towards the lip.
IMG_20241116_120742.jpg Busy day so just the three holes for now.

That is very nice Wabble. You did well creating the intake without chipping the edges. Can I ask you. Where does the name "Wabble" originate. Is there a story behind it?

That part is a model in itself, love the effort you've put in. 👍 Looking forward to the 'Wabble' story as well : D cheers

Thanks Steve and Steven,
Not much of a story, it just happened. There are three of us...Wibble(Mike) Wobble(John R) and Wabble(Me). Somehow we reply each other with these nicknames. I can't pronounce 'r' like Elma Fudd and am a bit of a rabble.
I know Spanner and John R call each other by numbers...weird huh.

Cheers,
Wabble

The numbers originated from the asylum bed assignments. The escape committee used them in communications. Where 'Matron' first administered meds. Once at large group became 'Rabble'. At least that's how I remember it.

Looks great Wabble, Well done 👍. Now that you're done with the part I'm pretty sure the original part will show up any moment : D...
