This is my next build but definitely not an out of the box construction.

The kit. This has the parts for an FGR2.

The extra sprue for this version.

The aftermarket. Etched brass and paint mask from Eduard but some of the ejection seat stuff might not get used.
The reason is a mix of Aires and Blackdog. The observant will see the engine is not a RR Spey, but have a plan for this.

The decals; still not sure which to go for.

The setting - I’m going to re-use this hangar diorama base. The Lightning is a little smaller so some sizing up was required to see if the Phantom will fit. Some adjustments to the scene will be needed but mostly just moving figures and GSE.

Because this Phantom will be on jacks with some panels removed I need to do some marking out for cutting and drilling. The stencil application guide helpfully indicates the jacking points on the aircraft underside (don’t get them confused with the wheel change jacking point markings on the LG door).

I have some other stuff to wrap up before I get stuck into this no you’ll all have to remain patient for updates.

Fantastic stuff rick , looks a lovely kit to base the dio on , cheers tony

First aircraft I saw take off. I was in the tower at some USAF airbase in Suffolk. RAF Bentwaters. (If I recall correctly)

"Two burning, two turning ready to roll" was the take off request from the lead aircraft!!

Magnificent. You can't dislike a 'toom'!!!
